Grey Filastine

In a ship’s log remixed for deep listening, listeners are immersed into the true and ongoing voyage of Arka Kinari, an ancient sailing ship transformed into a cultural platform to sound the alarm for the climate crisis. You’ll explore seas and sounds, visit mega-ports and stilt villages, navigate through cyclones and plastic gyres, anchor in post-nuclear atolls, be hosted by sultans, threatened by soldiers, and blessed by shamans. You won’t know where this story ends, because we don’t know either. A creation of Grey Filastine. Launching June 21, 2026, with new seasons dropping each solstice and equinox.

    Things Go South

Shanghai’d crew, smuggled persons, stains on the horizon, storms in the sea. From the North Sea towards North Africa, the first voyage of Arka Kinari goes south in more ways than one. ~put some wind in our sails by rating, comments, and sharing with friends, and please join our patreon https://www.patreon.com/c/arkakinari ~ Credits: Story, Narration, Audio production and Sound Design by Grey Filastine Story Editing and Sound Design Contribution by Rabia Williams Series Production and Graphic design by Mat Jacob Featuring the Guest Voices of: Yann Willard Clair Fauset Featuring the music of: King of May by Brent Arnold Giant Moth Perishes by Brent Arnold Blung by Filastine Vire au Cabestan by Djiboudjep Going by Mohammad Reza Mortazavi La Barque Bleu by Filastine, Walid Ben Selim, Brent Arnold Tulak Bala by Nova Ruth Miu (choir version) by Marina Herlop Featuring Archival, Foley & Sound Effects from: Euronews, “Rising Sea Levels” Dutch see-port ambience 170513_1141.flac by klankbeeld license: Attribution 4.0, ships horn.WAV by inchadney License: Attribution 4.0, Jimmy Kimmel, “Can You Name a Country?” Onlooker “Houthi Rebels’ Most Devastating Attacks: Red Sea Shipping Crisis” a tugboat goes by.wav by tim.kahn License: Attribution NonCommercial 4.0, ferry ship engine and waves by jgrzinich License: Attribution NonCommercial 4.0, EmergencyButton.wav by aj_heels License: Attribution 4.0, Sound_Take off Rescue Helicopter EC 145.wav by ice91prinzeugen License: Creative Commons 0, Some Douchebag “Dubai Luxury Lifestyle”, US Secretary of State John Kerry “speech mentioning drought before Syrian civil war”, Spraying water from a garden hose by meisterjaan License: Attribution 3.0, SparksFly8.wav by bliind License: Creative Commons 0, WeldingElectric Sparks.wav by weaveofkev License: Creative Commons 0, DESTRCrsh_Big Pile Of Trash.Digging,Hitting,Crushing,Breaking Metal,Wood,Glass,Plastic 1_EM.wav by newlocknew License: Attribution NonCommercial 4.0, 05966 water surfacing splashes.wav by Robinhood76 License: Attribution NonCommercial 4.0, coastal sea waves against the rocks by jgrzinich License: Attribution NonCommercial 4.0, Drain Gurgling 2.wav by F.M.Audio License: Attribution 4.0, 20030103OregonCoastStormGotMe.flac by daveincamas License: Attribution 4.0, creaking sailing boat.wav by jimsim License: Attribution 4.0, Stirring Mud in Bucket by Hand - Foley.wav by tothrec2 License: Creative Commons 0, Waving flags.wav by Kat7777 License: Attribution NonCommercial 4.0 Arka Kinari is kept afloat and this story made possible by the ClimateWorks Foundation, Liminous Foundation, and people like you joining our Patreon

The Atlantic Ocean is both the center and the margin of this episode. A water encumbered with history, bifurcated by empires, and now crossed by Arka Kinari. The story detours to raise hell about high waters outside the COP25 climate summit in Madrid. A Sound Swarm is conjured to make noise, where again it falls on deaf ears.
