I’ve listened to this podcast for about a year, I would say. Enjoyed some of the insights and the knowledge of science fiction literature was a helpful guide on what past and current works to read in the genre. That’s not the problem…
I plan on unfollowing this podcast after I write this review because I just cannot stand the way the host Luke Barrage talks to his co-host, Juliene. I think they are a couple, if that’s the case, my heart breaks for her.
In nearly every episode, the host Luke talks down to, talks over, casually disparages, and out-right steamrolls Juliene. It is painful to listen to. Input she offers is often disregarded as brief unnecessary interruption, if she gets a chance to express it at all, without being told— in some indirect way— to simply stop talking. From what I have gathered in my time listening, Juliene’s presence there is to listen, rarely talk, and make brief comments of agreement. It’s so bad, I literally cannot listen to it anymore.
