Dance, DNA & Disease Prevention: The New Science of Staying Well

On today’s Good Day Health Show - ON DEMAND… Host Doug Stephan and Dr. Ken Kronhaus of Lake Cardiology (352-735-1400) cover a number of topics affecting our health. First up, Doug and Dr. Ken begin with a link between niacin and heart disease, supplements from real food vs synthetic supplements, and a publication of drinking sugary drinks and thinking working out will offset what you’re putting in your body.  Then, the conversation continues a focus on working out with a shift to benefits for mental health. Studies show dancing as a preferred form of working out can help combat depression. More good news about exercising show that those who regularly move for health are more likely to avoid getting extremely ill if they get COVID-19, possible even lowering their risk of getting the virus at all.  Next up, evaluating 10 common illnesses and your risk factor with new genetic testing. These are nearly ready for use in doctors’ offices to be used to evaluate genetic risk for A-fib, breast cancer, kidney disease, heart disease, high cholesterol, prostate cancer, asthma, types 1 and 2 Diabetes, and obesity. This will help in preventive medicine and help patients lower their risk of developing these diseases.  The discussion shifts to listener questions, with one coming from Doug’s son, who is dealing with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). As Dr. Ken explains, there is a breakthrough of a drug the will help to ease symptoms and prevents joint damage in RA patients. Another question discusses how cutting out meat can ease snoring and minimize a risk of sleep apnea. It’s not just about shifting to a plant-based diet, but a healthy plant-based diet.  Website: GoodDayHealthShow.com Social Media: @GoodDayNetworks

    Slow Burn = Lasting Results

On today’s Good Day Health Show - ON DEMAND… Dr. Jack Stockwell, a NUCCA Chiropractor and GAPS Practitioner in SLC, UT (866.867.5070 | ForbiddenDoctor.com | JackStockwell.com), covers the the biggest news in the health and wellness space from a holistic, naturopath perspective. In this episode, Dr. Jack focuses on the correlation between diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, obesity, and the nutritional aspect. When the human body is not functioning at its optimum potential, it’s often a cause of dietary and lifestyle choices, leading to the aforementioned diseases. Ofttimes, one of these illnesses leads to the others arising as well.  At Dr. Jack’s clinic in Salt Lake City, he specializes in curing diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and high cholesterol with lifestyle changes. The more committed his patients are to these changes, the less reliant they will be on prescription medications.  Also, the importance of exercise in health is crucial to the benefits of overall health. Dr. Jack recommends a “slow burn” approach. This is where you might be doing a bench press and push it up and let it down, but you do it very slowly, and only around 4-6 repetitions per set, and about once every 5-7 days, or twice weekly… not being in the gym every single day. Studies show when you exercise in this manner, the positive effects last in your body for the next 5-7 days.  Lastly, Doug joins for an engaging discussion on brain fog and why generations before us didn’t appear to struggle with it the way we do today. In large part, their diets were completely different, they weren’t taking multiple drugs everyday, they didn’t have the artificial foods to the degree we do today, and they didn’t have the vast level of vaccinations we do today. There are a lot of toxicities we have today that didn’t exist, or weren’t as abundant, generations before.  Website: GoodDayHealthShow.com Social Media: @GoodDayNetworks

    The Thing About Cholesterol

On today’s Good Day Health Show - ON DEMAND… Dr. Jack Stockwell, a NUCCA Chiropractor and GAPS Practitioner in SLC, UT (866.867.5070 | ForbiddenDoctor.com | JackStockwell.com), covers the the biggest news in the health and wellness space from a holistic, naturopath perspective. In this episode, Dr. Jack begins with an explanation of who, or rather what, the Forbidden Doctor is and why it matters.  Then, Dr. Jack shifts into addressing topics about which his patients have asked him, starting with cholesterol. There seems to be a push for lower and lower cholesterol, which Dr. Jack calls a fraud. Cholesterol is a waxy-type of product our bodies make because every cell in our body requires cholesterol. Liver makes cholesterol, so if there is not enough in our diet, the liver will make more. If there is enough cholesterol in our diet, the liver will make less. Dr. Jack shares a study that looks into low cholesterol, and longterm lower cholesterol in elderly patients leads to a higher rate of death.  As a NUCCA Chiropractor and GAPS Practitioner, hold of Dr. Jack’s focus of practice is helping his patients change the road their body is on, and that has to do with changing lifestyle choices with diet being the primary focus. Now, if your cholesterol is critically low and always has been (without the use of drugs to make it low), then that’s a different issue. For some people, it may just be genetic, but it’s important to have your liver checked to make sure it’s not something to do with liver disease. Rounding out the conversation, Doug joins Dr. Jack to answer listener questions, including how to protect your body from cold, wet weather. The discussion continues how the body reacts wherever you live and various types of climate, and the important controls of the nervous system for the body.    Website: GoodDayHealthrShow.com Social Media: @GoodDayNetworks
