EXP Podcast #673: Call of Duty: Essential Warfare

EXP Podcast #673: Call of Duty: Essential Warfare

Corporate machinations make for some strange arguments. This week in bizzaro mergers and acquisitions land, Microsoft is trying to downplay any potential regulatory roadblocks to the Activision deal by threading a hilarious needle: Call of Duty (while clearly valuable enough to be worth billions of dollars) isn't important enough to put them into anti-monopoly danger. Sony is of course twisting the knife and claiming Call of Duty is an "essential" franchise within the gaming sector and beyond. Regardless of who wins, we decided to take it as an opportunity to talk about the long-running franchise, its current influence, as well as what other franchises seem essential in today's landscape.

Well it figures: we voice our doubts about God of War Ragnarok's release date and Sony turns around and dunks a 2022 date right in our faces. EXP Podcast #669: Summer Game Fest 2022

For all its troubles, E3 has still managed to leave a vacuum in its absence. But just like nature, the game industry abhors a vacuum and plenty of summer previews have rushed in to take place. This week we talk about Summer Game Fest, the Xbox showcase, and various other announcements. We also get very philosophical about space, much to nobody's surprise.

Great insight, hilarious, geeky

Very interesting and in-depth podcast about games, game communities, game mechanics, and the game industry. I look forward to this every week.

One of the best gaming podcasts out there

I’ve been listening for about a year and a half now, and I’ve got to say these guys are criminally underrated.

Their debriefs, even if I don’t agree with many of them, are very well thought out and often lead to you having a better understanding about what works/what didn’t in a game. For example, their breath of the wild debriefs were incredibly funny and engaging, and underscored what made that game so special. Their weekly discussion topics are refreshing to listen to as opposed the usual news roundup of other podcasts. Finally, their end of the year content is always really fun to listen to.

Great gaming discussion

EXP is always a treat to listen to. At the start of the episode, I don't know whether I get a thoughtful review, a nostalgic trip, or a hilarious debate, but it is always a good time.
