Robby & The Rabbi- Voices from Zion: Sukkot, Living Water, and the Coming of the Messiah

What do the Feast of Tabernacles, the prophet Ezekiel's vision of a healed Dead Sea, Jesus' promise of living water, and the future worship of all nations have in common? Join Robby Dilmore and Rabbi Chaim Eisen on Voices from Zion as we explore the biblical significance of Sukkot and the Jewish holidays we have just passed. From the prayers for rain that shift to prayers for dew, to the remarkable vision of life-giving waters flowing from the Temple in Ezekiel, we discover themes that reach from the pages of the Hebrew Scriptures into the teachings of Jesus and the prophetic hope of the nations. We also explore the connection between Sukkot and Thanksgiving, including the Pilgrims' possible biblical inspiration, and examine Nehemiah's powerful public reading of the Torah during the Jewish New Year season. Why does Zechariah prophesy that all nations will come to Jerusalem to celebrate Sukkot? What is the relationship between rain, living water, and the Messiah? And what might these ancient celebrations reveal about God's purposes for Israel and the nations? Come along as we explore the Hebrew Scriptures, Jewish tradition, and the connections that help us see the Bible's story in a fresh light. In this episode: From rain to dew: Why Jewish prayers change after Sukkot. Ezekiel's vision: The waters that heal the Dead Sea and bring life. Sukkot and Thanksgiving: Exploring the biblical connections. All nations and the Feast of Tabernacles: The prophecy of Zechariah. Rain, living water, and the Messiah: Exploring the biblical connections. Nehemiah's intense reading of the Torah and the people's response. Voices from Zion explores the Hebrew Scriptures with Rabbi Chaim Eisen and Robby Dilmore, seeking to understand the Jewish roots of our faith and discover the richness of God's Word.

    The Servant of the Power

Why would the word for "Hand" and "Axle" be the same in Biblical Hebrew?? What a wonderful thing to ponder as the word, hand is used in so many passages, especially the hands of, Jesus. A bit of a deeper dive into the letter/pictures for me is spectacular. The first letter in hand or axle is the letter Hebrew yud ' and the name of that letter is in fact this word,(amazing right). Yes, each letter in Hebrew has a name and this letter the smallest of all letters is yud. This picture is just a dot as shown above, the mark made when the pen touches the paper, the little that means a lot, the big bang and the first letter in God's name and Jesus name. The idea being that for an infinite God to make a finite world He would have to contract himself, yes, the letter yud….. BANG! The second letter, (words are right to left in Hebrew) is a dalet ד – the bent over servant, the door of humility. Be it a hand or an axle both serve the power. Thus we are called the hands of Jesus… yielding completely to the transfer of power without taking the glory. The wheels on the bus go round and round – they spin on an axle but the destination is The Kingdom of God. Without the power from God/the engine and the traction of the wheels/The Purposes of God. Apart from God and His purposes we the hands/axle can do nothing…
