Afraid to Fart: The Podcast You were taught to be ashamed of your body. Your body was never ashamed of you. It's time to drop the fear. No clinical jargon, no sterile advice, no apologies for being human and an important reminder that *Laughter is the best Medicine*" Why This Podcast Exists From birth, we're conditioned to believe natural bodily functions are rude or disgusting. But what if your body isn't broken, and is speaking a language you were never taught? Marion's journey began in a family of "polite" Catholic Irish alcoholics, where farting earned punishment. Decades later, IBS arrived with "snotty farts." Instead of suppressing the symptoms, Marion started listening, and discovered mucus isn't a malfunction. It's a boundary, protecting you from the anger you've swallowed your whole life. What You'll Get Raw, comedic episodes exploring: Shame & Conditioning: Where the fear was installed, and how to deprogram it.IBS & Gut Intelligence: Symptoms as messages, not enemies.Nervous System & Boundaries: Self-soothing, saying "no," and claiming your own space (hippos included).Blindness & Independence: Vision loss, lost privacy, and humour in adaptation.Philosophy & Potty Mouth: Off-the-cuff wisdom, tangents, and why vulnerability beats confidence. This podcast is for the Fearless Farters Fam: the misfits, the chronically embarrassed, and anyone who's ever sat frozen on a toilet, terrified someone might hear them exist. Afraid to fart, episode three, the sovereign autonomous hippopotamus

What does a hippopotamus have to teach us about sovereignty, personal boundaries — and farting? Quite a lot, apparently. In this episode of the Afraid to Fart podcast, Marion Bevington explores what it really means to be autonomous and sovereign: to make your own decisions, know what is actually your territory, and recognise where your territory ends. Along the way, we enter Marion's meat suit, meat soup and meat stew — her wonderfully irreverent way of exploring the body, emotional metabolisation, learned patterning and the unseen dynamics between people. There's also the story of her friend's ex-husband, sitting on his throne and proudly unleashing his toxic cloud over everyone else. Because there's a difference between being sovereign in your own space and deliberately invading somebody else's. And then comes the hippopotamus. The Sovereign Autonomous Hippopotamus has a surprisingly useful lesson: find the space that's available to you, make it yours, and don't take anybody else's. But just when you think we've established exactly what “you” means, Marion takes the conversation one step deeper — into identity. If you're spiritually curious, fascinated by the body, questioning old conditioning, or simply wondering how farting became such a complicated business, this episode may make you look at your own territory rather differently. Find your space. Make it yours. Don't take anybody else's. And just when you think you've worked out who you are, Marion turns the whole thing inside out with one final question: Who exactly is the “me” that I'm supposed to be sovereign over? That question leads directly into Episode 4 — conditioning. Visit https://afraidtofart.com. Subscribe, question everything, and join the Fam. "remember, laughter is the best medicine." Afraid to fart , episode 2 What if the body (and its farts) are not the problem?

What If Your Body (and Its Farts) Are Not the Problem? What if being afraid to fart isn't really about farting at all? In Episode 2 of Afraid to Fart, Marion Bevington takes one of her favourite TikTok comments — “I used to be afraid to fart and then I saw you” — into a bigger exploration of fear, courage, confidence, competence, body awareness, autonomy and sovereignty. ### Courage, Fear and the Body What happens in your body when you're frightened? Marion explores staying present with fear, recognising your choices and no longer being trapped by fear. Being less afraid to fart doesn't mean farting in somebody's face or ignoring everyone around you. It means discovering that you can stay with yourself when something feels uncomfortable and choose what to do next. ### Confidence Comes After Competence Through hilarious examples involving babies, swimming and driving, Marion challenges the idea that you need confidence before you begin. Competence grows through doing, and confidence can follow. ### Stay in the Driver's Seat Marion explores nervous system regulation, choice and personal agency — becoming still enough to notice what is happening and find the solution available to you. ### Autonomy, Sovereignty and the Body What does it mean to inhabit your own body and life? Marion explores autonomy, embodiment and sovereignty, rather than waiting for somebody else to give you permission to be yourself. ### Going Blind, Childhood Patterns and Hypervigilance Marion shares her experience of going blind, the grief and loss of independence that followed, and rebuilding autonomy. She explores childhood patterns, hypervigilance and hidden body tension — and asks whether some things we think are simply “who I am” might actually be patterns learned through experience. ### Anger, Letting Go and Learning to Like Yourself The episode explores anger, rage, stubbornness, holding on and letting go, and what can be hidden inside physical tension. Ultimately, this is about becoming curious about your body rather than treating it as the problem — and learning to like yourself by discovering what's underneath the surface. What if your body — and its farts — are not actually the problem? A funny, frank and deeply personal conversation about fear, shame, courage, confidence, body awareness, nervous-system regulation, childhood patterns, hypervigilance, emotional regulation, autonomy, personal agency, embodiment and sovereignty.
