A Podcast about a Documentary about Podcasting (w/ Shaun Michael Colón, Director of Age of Audio)

In order to make your first episode "Why would you watch a podcast?", We had to do a deep dive with Sean Michael Colón about his new film Age of Audio, which you can check out on Documentary+. You can also listen to his 20khz episode that inspired me to contact him in the first place. Watch our pilot onyoutube, and subscribe here for more fascinating interviews with experts, artists, and occasionally lunatics.

Jason Pargin: the death of Cracked, the birth of tiktok, and never showing your face.

Jason Pargin has had one of the most fascinating careers of anyone we've ever talked to, self publishing an online book in the 2000s that got turned into a movie, and editing at one of the biggest comedy sites of the 2010s, all while never showing his face. Then tiktok came around and he had to. Please enjoy our full conversation that got turned into clips on our pilot episode "Why Would You Watch a Podcast?", which you can check out on youtube.

Why Would You Watch a Podcast? (ft. Jason Pargin, Paul Barbato, and Shaun Michael Colón)

Or rather, why would you listen to a youtube show? Because choice in consumption matters, and it matters to us that you be able to learn new things while also safely operating your vehicle. Episode 1 delves into the artificial push to film podcasts and connects it to Facebook's "Pivot to Video" scandal that decimated the online comedy scene in the mid 2010s, including Funny or Die, Cracked, and College Humor; guest Jason Pargin was the editor in chief at Cracked during all of this. We are also joined by Paul Barbato (Geography Now), and Shaun Michael Colón (Age of Audio), who directed a whole ass documentary about podcasts Watch the show if you have time! youtube.com/@Whatarewedoingheretv I hope this podcast finds you well, Paula and Sage.
