    Episode 135: Stowe Mountain Resort and the Heritage Ski Race

The world's best backcountry skiing podcast.   Doug has returned from Vermont, where he participated in the first (and hopefully annual) Stowe Mountain Heritage Race. The race is skimo in nature but open to all-comers with an adventurous spirit. Lycra is not mandatory. Our guests are Nathan Fry and Brian Lindner, both locals and supporters of the Stowe ski scene.   Fry is the director of the Heritage Race, while Lindner is the local historian of the Stowe/Mount Mansfield zone, where he has been a member of the Mount Mansfield Ski Patrol for over 50 years.     Episode 134: The Olympic Rings

The world's best backcountry skiing podcast.   There's no hate, only love, in this Olympics-themed episode. Well, to be clear, and to backtrack a bit, maybe just a bit of disdain. So...skimo. Yes, it was. Despite our deep respect for Anna Gibson and Cam Smith (Smith is a CB local!), the powers-that-be neutered what skimo (it is skimo, right?) can be. Maybe what we need is some more spice, as in more longform mo', as in mountaineering. Which means Doug and Randy go totally deep on their feelings about the Olympics, the multi-ringed circus, and moving the skimo scene forward as the 2030 Winter Olympics loom on the horizon.     Episode 133: A Partnership—Thea Røhme and Krister Kopala

The world's best backcountry skiing podcast.   Hop scotch across the North Atlantic, and it's off to Norway's Lyngen Alps with the RAB crew. In this episode, we speak with Norway's Thea Røhme and Krister Kopala and get the lowdown on how their partnership works in high- and low-stress environments. Røhme is a charger on skis and is currently working toward her IFMGA certification, while Kopala is a highly regarded splitboard mountaineer who is making quite a stir on YouTube with his high-speed riding in some dicey situations. (You can find Kopala's YouTube here, and he is a regular over on Nikolai Shirmer's channel.)   Doug and Manaaseh were in Norway for a RAB event where Kopala and Røhme, both RAB athletes, screened their upcoming film, New Terrain, which will be released this summer. The film explores the duo's relationship, their ascents and descents, and how they make it all work out.     On Episode 133 of the Totally Deep Podcast: The good life in Norway's Lyngen Alps.  The sometimes delicate art of communicating with your partner.     Episode 132: Welcome to 2026—the Ins and Outs

There's the usual banter, where Doug swears off Zone 2 training, and they introduce the two guest hosts for this "ins & outs" episode.    And...our guests are Manasseh Franklin and Rachel Beck, who take over the podcast for a much-needed episode dedicated to what is in and what is out for 2026. Basically, what is out, according to our two hosts, is this: don't be a douche on the skintrack. No better words have been spoken. Be kind. Be mellow. Be dedicated to good craft.
