Health History 101: The Sun in 2026

In this first-day lecture, the professor introduces a semester spent looking back at how people in 2026 thought about health. He starts with the sun and argues that people of that era did almost everything backwards: they blocked, avoided, and tried to replace sunlight instead of embracing it. He ends by urging students to share the lessons so "the same mistakes" aren't repeated. Chapters 0:00 – Welcome and class intro. Overview of the course and why the semester looks back at 2026 health beliefs. 0:35 – Why start with the sun. He frames it as the opening topic and says "this will be on the exam," so take notes. 1:06 – Learn from history. You don't have to memorize history, but you should learn from it. 1:30 – Sunscreen. He claims sunscreen was harming people, and describes towels, "goo," and paste used to block the sun. 2:23 – Spray sunscreen. The aerosol version, sprayed on kids at the beach in clouds of mist that bystanders breathed in. 3:10 – Face makeup. Covering the face, which he says blocked the sun and aged skin faster. 3:49 – Protective clothing. Covering the arms and legs. 4:12 – Sunglasses. The next item on the list, wearing dark glasses to block the sun. He contrasts this with looking at the sun at sunrise and sunset. 5:12 – Sleeping while the sun was up. People slept during the day instead of following the sun. 5:44 – No sun worship. Missing sunrise and sunset and not spending time outside midday. 6:22 – Trees and shade. Cutting trees down and not cultivating them for shade. He asks students to plant a tree. 7:13 – Lighting that didn't mimic the sun. Using bright bulbs at night instead of candles, incandescent bulbs, red light, or fire. 8:03 – Who was to blame? His theory that institutions and governments encouraged these habits. 8:34 – Aircraft spraying. The last item, which he says was "to block out the sun" (the board's "tried blocking out the sun" line). 9:25 – Wrap-up. Without the sun there is no life, and he mentions the Egyptian sun god Ra for a future lesson. 10:09 – Recap and dismissal. The five takeaways and a request to share them with family and friends.

Environment Before Everything: Light, Grounding & the Biophysics of Health with Andreas David Christou

Barenaked Health Podcast, hosted by Nick Horowski Episode Summary Nick sits down with Andreas David Christou, host of the Fitness Wisdom Podcast, to talk about health from the environment up. Andreas describes his path from bodybuilding and transformation coaching to circadian and quantum biology, and explains why he thinks light, temperature, water, magnetism, and gravity come before nutrition and exercise. They cover practical first steps like blocking blue light after sunset and cutting back wireless exposure. They also cover hydration, breath rate, home design and biogeometry, mastic gum, hydrogen, and the mindset side of health: routine, intention, and manifestation. Key takeaways (Andreas's perspective) Start with the lowest-hanging fruit. He recommends blocking artificial blue light after sunset with red-lens glasses and red bulbs, and adding changes gradually so you don't overwhelm yourself. He argues that many "I'm doing everything right" plateaus come from ignoring light and dark cycles, time outdoors, and grounding. Remove stressors before adding biohacks. His "stress bucket" idea is that piling new protocols onto an overflowing bucket backfires. On wireless devices, his advice is to turn off anything you don't need, keep the phone away from your body and bed, use wired or air-tube earphones, and turn Wi-Fi off at night. Breathing works best when the underlying environment is dialed in. He prefers gentle nasal breathing over forced hyperventilation. Context matters more than perfection with food. He is flexible about treats, and if you slip, he says to get back on plan with your next meal. He sees routine, gratitude, and intention as part of the health picture. His own day starts with sunrise, a swim in the sea, and journaling the night before. Chapters 0:00:00 Intro and Andreas's background: fitness from age 14, bodybuilding, and his partner's health challenges 0:02:46 Why he puts environment (light, magnetism, water, temperature, gravity) ahead of nutrition and exercise 0:08:15 The turning point: discovering Dr. Jack Kruse's work, first steps, and moving from Finland to Cyprus 0:12:00 Starting small and getting the household on board 0:14:17 Blocking blue light after sunset, red-lens glasses, and sleep, melatonin, and daytime light 0:19:12 Modern environments, control, and a big-picture theory of how it all started (agriculture, wealth, currency) 0:27:19 Hydration, mitochondrial water, electrolytes, and stress 0:35:09 Reducing non-native EMFs: phones, wireless earbuds, flight mode, Wi-Fi, and Faraday bags 0:43:56 How environment shapes cells, and why the "average" person is suboptimal 0:47:44 Training less and outdoors: Andreas's 3-day outdoor routine 0:53:07 Breath rate, nasal breathing, and why he avoids hyperventilation 1:00:28 Melatonin, dopamine, and purpose 1:04:16 Consciousness and the body as bioelectric 1:06:34 Magnetism, grounding, and staying close to the earth 1:12:23 Home design, natural shapes, and biogeometry 1:19:52 Simplifying: endocrine disruptors, routines, and habit stacking 1:21:04 Favorite podcast episodes: mastic gum, shilajit, and spruce pitch 1:30:15 Food in context: moderation, gratitude, and getting back on track 1:37:02 Molecular hydrogen: tablets, machines, and "more isn't always better" 1:41:26 Daily routine, intention, and manifestation 1:52:48 Where to find Andreas People and resources mentioned Dr. Jack Kruse (biophysics, circadian and quantum biology) Daniel Vitalis, Carrie Bennett, Dr. Perry Nicholson, and Dr. Catherine Clinton (past guests on Andreas's podcast) Ibrahim Karim (biogeometry) Luke Story (Lifestylist podcast) Eagle Research (hydrogen) Connect with Andreas David Christou Podcast: Fitness Wisdom Podcast (YouTube and Spotify) X: @MovementAndreas (daily infographics) Instagram: andreas_david_christou Patreon: ad-free episodes, protocols, blogs, and live Q&As, with a free tier

    Dave's Health Questions

Throwing out a copy and paste of Dave's questions here: If you only had a dollar a day to spend on supplements for the general person, what would you have them take? Are there any supplements that you would advise children take everyday?  I've got 30 minutes to commit to working out three times a week, what should I do?  What's some of the most widely spread mis-nowledge of that people think that you would love to correct?  What do people care about that they really shouldn't?  If you could allocate 1 to 5 minutes of stretching everyday for the general population, what movements would you make them do?  What would you challenge people to do emotionally for their mental health?  What's your belief on human connection and friendships? And interactions with others as it relates to health and longevity?  If you could force your parents to incorporate one thing into their lives from a health perspective, what would it be? I want to improve the cognitive function of those I love without feeling too prescriptive or giving them anything too difficult to focus on, what tips do you have?  How much water would you recommend that people drink a day?  Outside of water, were there any beverages that you would advise people to drink?  For those in high stress jobs or life scenarios, what are three things that they could do to help?  In the words of the famous philosopher, Tim Ferriss, what message would you put on a metaphorical billboard for the world to see?
