Would You Rather: Bad Choices, Dumb Arguments & Surprisingly Deep Questions

Sometimes you don't need a conspiracy, historical disaster, serial killer, or three hours of research to make a podcast. Sometimes you just need three friends, a microphone, and a bunch of questions with no good answers. This week, the Sofa King Podcast takes on Would You Rather. The questions start simple enough: money or freedom? Your dream house or dream car? Perfect memory or the ability to forget anything you want? Would you go back to 18 knowing everything you know today, or take $5 million right now? But as usual, things don't stay serious for very long. Before it's over, we're debating horse-sized ducks, armies of tiny horses, aggressive animals, embarrassing bodily functions, terrible superpowers, and a collection of scenarios that reveal way more about a person than they probably intended. And somewhere between all the stupidity, a few surprisingly good questions emerge. Would you rather have more money or more time? Be successful but never around, or have less and actually enjoy your life? Know exactly how your story ends, or live without knowing what's coming next? That's the weird thing about Would You Rather. Ask the right question and a stupid party game suddenly tells you a lot about the people answering it. There are no right answers this week—but there are definitely some wrong ones. Listen along, pick your answers before Brad, Brent, and Dave give theirs, and then let us know which decisions we completely screwed up. And send us your best Would You Rather questions. We may use them the next time we play. Listen. Learn. Laugh. Question everything. Forever Chemicals: The Poison That Never Leaves

Forever Chemicals & Microplastics: The Invisible Pollution Inside Us What if the most widespread pollution on Earth isn't something you can see? In this episode, we dive into the strange and unsettling world of forever chemicals (PFAS) and microplastics—man-made substances that have found their way into our water, food, blood, organs, and nearly every corner of the planet. From non-stick cookware and food packaging to synthetic clothing and bottled water, we explore how modern convenience may have created a legacy that could outlast civilization itself. Along the way, we separate fact from fiction, examine the latest scientific research, discuss how these chemicals became so widespread, and ask the bigger questions: Are we living through another leaded gasoline moment? Can these contaminants ever be cleaned up? What do they actually mean for our health? And what happens when "forever" becomes part of the human body? As always, the conversation wanders into unexpected territory with weird facts, dark humor, surprising history, and the kind of rabbit holes only Sofa King can find. Listen. Learn. Laugh. Question everything. The Neubauer Experiment: Playing God with Triplets

In the 1960s and 70s, a secret psychological study set out to answer one of humanity’s biggest questions: Are we shaped by nature… or nurture? Led by child psychiatrist Peter Neubauer and hidden behind the respected adoption agency Louise Wise Services, identical twins—and even triplets—were deliberately separated at birth and placed into different families… without anyone’s knowledge. Years later, three brothers—Robert Shafran, Eddy Galland, and David Kellman—accidentally found each other, triggering a media frenzy and a story that seemed almost too unbelievable to be real. But behind the headlines was something much darker. Hidden records. Secret observations. Lives treated like experiments. And a truth locked away for decades. Tonight, we dig into The Neubauer Experiment—a study that didn’t just observe human behavior… it manipulated it. Because when science crosses the line into playing God…who pays the price? Listen. Learn. Laugh. Question everything. Before NASA: The Incredible Story of Auguste Piccard

Before astronauts, before rockets, and decades before the space race… one man built a metal sphere, attached it to a balloon, and rode it to the edge of space. In this episode we explore the incredible story of Auguste Piccard, the Swiss physicist and explorer who pushed the limits of human exploration in two completely opposite directions: the stratosphere above Earth and the deepest trenches of the ocean. In 1931, Piccard became the first human to reach the upper stratosphere inside a pressurized gondola, witnessing the curvature of the Earth and a sky so dark it resembled space itself. But he wasn’t finished. Later in life he invented the bathyscaphe, a revolutionary deep-sea vessel that would eventually allow his son to descend nearly seven miles to the bottom of the Mariana Trench. From cosmic rays and balloon flights to deep-sea exploration and the limits of human survival, Piccard’s work helped shape the technology that would later lead to modern spacecraft and deep-ocean submersibles. This is the story of a man who helped humanity explore both the highest and lowest frontiers of our planet. Listen. Learn. Laugh. Question everything. Out-of-Place Ancient Artifacts That Break the Timeline

Some artifacts don’t belong. Buried in sand. Hidden in shipwrecks. Locked in museum cases. Objects that shouldn’t exist — at least not according to the official timeline. In this episode, we dive into the world of Out-of-Place Artifacts — the Baghdad Battery, the Antikythera Mechanism, the Iron Pillar of Delhi, the Sabu Disc, the Nimrud Lens, the Wedge of Aiud — relics that feel like glitches in history itself. Ancient batteries. Mechanical computers 2,000 years ahead of their time. Rust-proof iron. Precision stonework that modern tools struggle to replicate. Are these just misunderstood relics… Or evidence that something has been forgotten — or erased? Was there lost technology? A vanished civilization? Cycles of collapse we refuse to acknowledge? The deeper you look, the stranger it gets. History tells a story. But sometimes the artifacts tell a different one. Listen. Learn. Laugh. Question everything.
