Czech Your Day is a daily podcast that helps foreigners really understand and learn Czech through weekly topics.     Czech Your Preferences: Reflecting on 20 and Now (KDYŽ MI BYLO DVACET, RÁDA JSEM CESTOVALA)

    Yesterday's Tale: A Peek into Martin's Day (CO VČERA DĚLAL MARTIN?)

    Send Renča a text 😉 Renča has created a short story about Martin's day. Why? It will give you a chance to practice all the verbs in the 3rd person (masculine) as well as time (v půl sedmé, ve tři čtvrtě na pět etc.), places and exressions useful when you want to talk about your day. If you are a beginner or you struggle with listening, use the part in the slow mode first. Listen to it without a handout at first. It may be frustrating, I know. But your ears need to get used to the Czech sounds and words. Try to understand from the context as much as possible. Then use the handout. If you still struggle, use the translations on my website. Once you feel comfortable (it may take several days), push yourself and listen repeatedly to the fast version (without a handout). It may be really challenging at first, but don't give up. It's just like in the gym - your ears need to get used to the "heavy weights" (= fast mode).  Listening to the episode just once isn't enough.     Czech Dialogues Unplugged: Mastering 'Have' in the Past Tense

    Send Renča a text 😉 In this episode, Renča shares with you 2 dialogues in the past tense. You will have the chance to practice the expressions you have learnt this week (#51-#54). You will hear both dialogues in Standard Czech (= textbook version = the one you need for exams or formal situations).  And as a bonus, you will hear the first dialogue in a really informal version (real-life Czech). Renča has used lots of informal expressions (also the way she pronounces certain words - eg. od - do, zítra,... - expresses the level of informality (to be honest, she wouldn't use as many informal expressions in one dialogue (it's too informal for her taste), but she wanted to show you different options).
