Hi! Our names are Joseph Merced and Lance Hinagpis. We are students, researchers, and "big-brain" thinkers. This channel was set up to show others what it means to live intentionally, presently, and foolishly.

The goal of our channel is to express our own personal thoughts and opinions on different topics in our society and we hope to achieve this by creating meaningful content that showcases our creativity, as well as our constant desire to learn. Along the way we are hoping to learn something new, whether it be a new life philosophy, something incredibly pointless, or something in between.

Who knows best what makes us happy? (Ep. 1)

Who knows best what makes us happy? (Ep. 1)

Who knows best about what makes you happy? In the first episode of Relatable Research, we talk about Stephanie Hare and Nicole Vincent's paper "Happiness, Cerebroscopes and Incorrigibility: Prospects for Neuroeudaimonia." This paper tied together a few different research fields like Psychology, Neuroscience, and Philosophy and discussed how scientists and empirical research can potentially help us live happier lives. They also argued that, although science can help predict what is likely to make us happy, ultimately, only we can determine whether we feel happy or not.

For this episode, we talk about how pursuing happiness doesn't have to be rushed - it can be a spontaneous feeling. We also break down the different sections of this paper and share the meaningful parts that we found worth noting. Finally, we try and discuss why it's important to value our own personal pursuit of happiness.

    The Last Episode?

    The Last Episode?

Hey everyone! This will be the last episode of the Coffee Mates Podcast and we want to thank everyone for spending time with us and for listening to two 22-year old normies. Though this may be the end of the Coffee Mates podcast, we would like to share a big announcement with you all!

We are starting a *NEW* podcast that we hope will be more relatable for our audience and will hopefully incorporate more things that we like to do research on! The goal will still be to engage in meaningful conversation with others and to ask "big-brain" questions - we still want to keep wrinkling our brains. However, moving forward, we want to create a fun way to engage in conversations about everyday topics through the lens of researchers; we want to take what we’ve both learned (and eventually will learn) and share that with you. You won’t have to do the research because we’ll do it for you and make it relatable :D

Take a listen to this episode to find out our *NEW* podcast name and thanks for sticking with us! We really appreciate it and we'll see you next in the first episode of our *NEW* podcast!
