Wimbledon Day 7 - Osaka overpowers Sabalenka, Guaff beats the curfew + Djokovic tested by qualifier!

Naomi Osaka rolled back the years with a statement straight-sets win over world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, snapping records and streaks in a GRASSAKA masterclass to reach her first Wimbledon quarterfinal. Joel and Chris break down whether Osaka is now the woman to beat, plus we hear from Joel who caught up with Sabalenka straight after her defeat (and yes… there were sweaty palms involved). Jessica Pegula also keeps the American charge going, powering past rising star Iva Jovic to set up a blockbuster all-American clash with Coco Gauff. On the men’s side, Novak Djokovic made history once again, overtaking Roger Federer for the most Wimbledon match wins after a gritty battle with Roman Safiullin, while Jannik Sinner and Felix Auger-Aliassime keep their title hopes alive after a five-set thriller and some very spicy post-match opinions (Fokina was NOT happy!). We also look ahead to Day 8, with Arthur Fery finally Centre Court-bound against Grigor Dimitrov and Alexandra Eala looking to back up her big win against Iga Swiatek. Wimbledon Day 6 - Alex Eala upsets Swiatek, Dimitrov's run continues + Serena withdrawal!

Centre Court has a brand new breakout star, Wimbledon champions past and present are heading home, and Britain's dream run is still alive. Join Joel and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ as we react to Alexandra Eala's stunning victory over defending champion Iga Swiatek as the Filipina becomes the first player from her country to reach the second week of a Grand Slam. We discuss whether Eala is now a genuine Wimbledon title contender, what went wrong for Swiatek, and why 2022 champion Elena Rybakina's grass-court dominance has suddenly deserted her after another shock exit. Elsewhere, Marta Kostyuk backed up her impressive Roland Garros showing and Ashlyn Krueger continued her form as the women's draw opened up even further in the bottom half. On the ATP side, Arthur Fery produces the comeback of the day to reach the fourth round and keep British hopes alive, while Alexander Zverev, Grigor Dimitrov and Jiri Lehecka all progress. We also reflect on Serena Williams' emotional withdrawal from doubles with Venus and preview a blockbuster Day 7 featuring Aryna Sabalenka against Naomi Osaka - is it the match to decide where the women’s singles title is heading? Wimbledon Day 5 - Djokovic + Sinner progress, Sabalenka outhits Ostapenko and will Serena play doubles?

On today’s Wimbledon Day 5 catch-up, we discuss Novak Djokovic battling past Arthur Rinderknech to equal Roger Federer’s all-time men’s singles wins record at Wimbledon with his 105th victory, while continuing his pursuit of an eighth title at SW19. We also look at Jannik Sinner’s most convincing performance of the tournament so far as he eased into the fourth round, and debate whether the defending champion is finally starting to justify his favourite status. On the women’s side, Aryna Sabalenka produced a clinical display against Jelena Ostapenko to set up a mouth-watering Round 4 showdown with Naomi Osaka, who reached the second week at Wimbledon for the first time in her career. We hear from Osaka on her surprising preference for No.1 Court over Centre Court and discuss whether she can gain revenge on Sabalenka after their recent meeting in Paris. Elsewhere, we examine the controversy surrounding Wimbledon’s handling of Venus and Serena Williams’ doubles return, question whether special treatment is being given to the legendary sisters, assess why so many of the ATP’s rising stars have struggled on grass compared to Roland Garros, and look ahead to Day 6 with Britain’s Arthur Fery now the last home player standing in the singles draw. Wimbledon Day 4 - Swiatek's A+ performance, Berrettini upsets Fils + Djokovic schedule drama!

Iga Swiatek is finding her grass-court groove, Matteo Berrettini is rolling back the years, and Arthur Fery is flying the British flag after becoming the last home player standing in the Wimbledon singles draws. At Tennis Weekly HQ, we react to Swiatek’s dominant display against Karolina Pliskova as the defending champion sets up a fascinating third-round clash with rising star Alexandra Eala. We also ask whether her performance really deserved the A+ awarded by Martina Navratilova, or whether Swiatek’s own more modest B grade was closer to the mark. Elsewhere, Elena Rybakina, Amanda Anisimova and Madison Keys all continued their impressive progress into the third round. On the ATP side, Matteo Berrettini continued his resurgence with a four-set win over Arthur Fils and even revealed to us why Wimbledon refused to let him wear a Hugo Boss walk-on suit. We also celebrate Arthur Fery’s breakthrough run, debate Learner Tien’s extraordinary post-match McDonald’s feast, discuss why Novak Djokovic finally got his Centre Court wish, and preview a blockbuster Day 5 featuring Aryna Sabalenka against Jelena Ostapenko, while wondering whether Serena and Venus Williams’ long-awaited doubles reunion will actually happen. Wimbledon Day 3 - Gauff survives final set tiebreak, Sinner improves + Djokovic masterclass!

Djokovic is firing, Sinner is cruising, and Wimbledon has already claimed another major casualty – Roland Garros champion Mirra Andreeva. At Tennis Weekly HQ, we react to Novak Djokovic’s commanding victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas and ask what has happened to a rivalry that once produced two Grand Slam finals. We also break down Jannik Sinner’s clinical win over Nuno Borges as the seven-time champion and defending champion both booked their places in the third round. On the women’s side, Coco Gauff survived a gripping final-set tiebreak against Sloane Sierra, while former Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova stunned Andreeva in one of the matches of The Championships so far. We also discuss the latest fallout from Serena Williams’ first-round defeat, with concerns growing over her knee ahead of a scheduled doubles reunion with sister Venus. Plus, Dan Evans brings the curtain down on his professional career in front of just a few hundred spectators on an outside court, Learner Tien’s bread-fuelled medical timeout has us scratching our heads, and we preview another packed day at SW19 featuring Iga Swiatek, Madison Keys and more as Round 2 draws to a close. Wimbledon Day 2 - Serena loses in singles comeback, Swiatek survives Townsend + Shelton upset

Serena’s back! The tennis legend made her long-awaited return to Wimbledon singles for the first time in four years, but her comeback ended in a gripping three seat defeat to Australian Maya Joint. We analyse Serena’s performance, discuss whether the wildcard was justified and ask what comes next as she turns her attention to doubles with sister Venus. Elsewhere, defending champion Iga Swiatek survived a major first round scare against Taylor Townsend to keep her title defence alive at the first hurdle, whilst Ben Shelton became the biggest casualty of the tournament so far after blowing a match point against Finnish qualifier Otto Virtanen. We also react to Taylor Fritz’s headline-grabbing Roger Federer inspired Wimbledon walk-on outfit and celebrate finally some joy for the Brits headlined by Katie Swan’e emotional first Wimbledon singles win since 2018 and… Arthur Fery’s earplugs. Plus, we look ahead to Day 3 where Novak Djokovic returns to face Stefanos Tsitsipas and current Roland Garros champion Mirra Andreeva faces off in an intriguing battle against former Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova. Wimbledon Day 1 - Sinner survives in 5, Djokovic under the lights + Coco gets a grass win!

It’s Day 1 of Wimbledon and what a day it was! Novak Djokovic won under the lights in a late finish and defending Champion Jannik Sinner was pushed to 5 sets by Miomir Kecmanović. Elsewhere for the top ladies seeds it was plain sailing with Sabalenka, Osaka, Pegula and Gauff easing into Round 2 in straight sets. For the Brits it was a day to forget as Jack Draper and Emma Raducanu withdrew from the tournament injured and 10 Brits lost in the worst day for 21 years at The Championships.  Joel and Chris also discuss the media boycott ending and how Jannik Sinner didn’t want to talk about it despite it being announced at the beginning of his press conference and prior to the world’s media. Another media day discussion that also made headlines was Serena Williams’ comments on drugs testing and quite a few inaccuracies in her statement that Chris fact-checks as well as previewing her return to singles after 4 years out of the game.
