    A satirical political movement has gone viral amongst India's youth with an unusual mascot at the helm: the cockroach. The Cockroach Janta Party was born after India's chief justice referred to unemployed youth as "cockroaches". Though he later said he was misquoted, his comments ricocheted online. As outrage escalated, 30-year-old Abhijeet Dipke asked: "What if all cockroaches come together?" The online satirical movement now has nearly 23 million Instagram followers and counting.

    'Posing for cameras': Israel mocks flotilla activists online as torture, rape allegations mount

    Waving Union Jacks, tens of thousands of supporters of far-right activist Tommy Robinson descended on London's streets last Saturday for a rally known as "Unite the Kingdom". In reality, London's Metropolitan Police believe 60,000 demonstrators attended, and several of the viral images online are either AI-generated or using old footage.

    In a late-night social media blitz before his high-stakes China visit, US President Donald Trump unleashed a string of debunked conspiracy theories, AI-generated images and attacks on his political rivals. Posting 55 times in a span of three hours, Trump tore into former president Barack Obama, accusing him – without evidence – of treason and espionage during Trump's 2016 election campaign. He also revived falsehoods that the election was "stolen" from him in 2020, and attacked The New York Times.
