Ignorance: When Not Knowing Weakens Our Faith

In this episode four of Bible Study with Mum, we explore ignorance  not as a lack of intelligence, but as a lack of applied spiritual knowledge and how it quietly weakens faith in teens, new believers, and even long-time Christians. Drawing from Scripture, we learn that ignorance doesn’t mean God’s truth is unavailable. Often, it means truth is unseen, unused, or misunderstood. When God’s Word is ignored or not applied, faith becomes fragile and believers can live far below what God intends. This episode is a gentle but honest invitation to grow inunderstanding, stay teachable, and walk confidently in the truth of God’s Word. In this episode, we talk about: What the Bible means by ignoranceWhy God’s people can struggle even when they know HimHow ignorance affects faith, direction, and generationsPractical examples of how ignorance shows up in everyday lifeThe story of King Asa and how applied knowledge brought peace and later, how ignoring God’s counsel led to lossWhy knowledge protects faith and truth strengthens trustHow teens, new believers, and parents can grow together in truth This episode reminds us that ignorance weakens faith but truth strengthens it. Scriptures Referenced Hosea 4:6Isaiah 5:13Galatians 4:12 Chronicles 14–16Joshua 1:82 Timothy 3:16–17 Reflection Questions Where might a lack of knowledge be weakening my faith right now? Am I growing in understanding or staying where I’m comfortable? How can I apply God’s Word more intentionally this week?

When the Heart Refuses to Trust God

In this episode 3 of Bible Study with Mum, we move deeper from doubt into a more serious and often misunderstood issue: unbelief. While doubt can be a struggle within faith, unbelief is aposture of the heart that refuses to trust God, His Word, and His promises. Left unaddressed, unbelief quietly robs us of rest, peace, and the inheritance God desires for us. Using Scripture, we explore how unbelief develops, why evenbelievers can struggle with it, and how the Holy Spirit lovingly leads us back to truth. In this episode, we discuss: The difference between doubt and unbeliefWhy unbelief is described as a sin in ScriptureHow unbelief prevents us from entering God’s promisesBiblical examples of unbelief, including the Israelites in the wildernessWhy an entire generation missed God’s promise in Numbers 13The role of the Holy Spirit in convicting, guiding, and restoring usPractical, biblical steps to overcome unbeliefHow parents can support faith journeys with prayer, not pressure This episode reminds us that unbelief does not change God’spromises it changes our ability to receive them. But the good news is this: God is patient, His Spirit is present, and faith can grow again when truth is embraced. Scriptures Referenced John 16:7–11Hebrews 3:7–19Numbers 13:32–33Mark 9:24Romans 4:20–22Romans 10:17Proverbs 3:5–6Exodus 4 Next Episode In the next episode, we’ll talk about ignorance and how a lack of knowledge can affect our faith. Is it okay to doubt God?

Many people experience doubt in their faith journey, but few feel safe talking about, especially in church. In this episode of Bible Study with Mum, we continue our teaching on faith by exploring an important question: Is it okay to doubt God? Using Scripture and real biblical examples, this conversation helps teens, new believers, and parents understand the difference between faith, doubt, and unbelief, and what to do when questions arise. In this episode, we talk about: - Doubt as a bridge between faith and unbelief - How faith and doubt can coexist - The difference between faith, doubt and unbelief - Why God welcomes honest questions - What causes doubt, including fear, trauma, and delayed expectations - Practical, biblical steps for responding to doubt - How parents can respond wisely when teens question faith We look closely at the story of John the Baptist and his question to Jesus, along with other biblical examples such as Abraham, Zechariah,  and Thomas and their journey of faith and doubt. This episode reminds us that doubt does not disqualify faith —what matters is where we take our doubt.   📖 Scriptures Referenced Luke 7:18–23 James 1:5–8 Genesis 12 Luke 1:5–20 John 20:24–29 Isaiah 54:13Romans 10:17🎧 Next Episode Join me next time as we talk about unbelief and how it affect our faith and how we navigate through to a stronger faith.
