In 2007, Russian President Vladimir Putin came to the Munich Security Conference to deliver a speech that still reverberates today. I Am Not Convinced

The Munich Security Conference might just be the most famous conference you’ve never heard of. And in this special series, we’re going to take you behind the scenes of this global gathering, where again and again, since 1963, history has been made. In this episode, host Jessie Graham takes a look back at the 2003 conference, when German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer confronted U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. Rumsfeld was making a case for European nations to join the United States in a coalition against Iraq. Fischer’s remark “I am not convinced” was a stark rebuke to Rumsfeld and marked a dramatic shift in the relationship between Europe and the United States.
