This Week in Virology

Vincent and the team, thank you for the commitment to science based medicine! And thank you for creating and making this platform available and accessible to such a broad range of people! TWIV has provided a valuable resources that has without doubt saved lives. The TWIV team and all the guests have truly shined through the last year, “keeping it real” with the science based medicine! As a long time listener of the podcast I have learned a tremendous amount from the past decade or so of TWIV, but the past year of 2020 I have sincerely appreciated having this consistent, reliable, and neutral place to stay current , up to date and well informed. If you are new to TWIV, and you are new to the topic, do check out the website and maybe the TWIV videos instead of the audio format, do pause and lookup words! Vincent has a new 25 part video course and lots of other excellent resources and reference links.

As I'm an M.D. currently not working in the virology field, but with a keen interest in the subject and I also did some research in grad school, I find this pod cast a great way of keeping up to date on the field of virology. The subjects are broad, from working in BSL4 labs to the recently discovered Pandora viruses that are virtually as big as small cells. Although the depth of each pod cast isn't great enough for scientific purposes it will still give me a over view of what's happening out there.

Conversations about virology are essential. Do not have a background in the field but still enjoy the show every week, and recently joined Vincent's MOOC to catch some of the basics. Sure I'll get a deeper understanding into the future, but, as I said, very very very much enjoyed the conversational style on scientific method and such.

As a virologist it is an excellent way to keep me updated about viruses I am not currently doing research on. The hosts are very knowledgable, but they are explaining the topics in a way that should make it easy to follow for people not in the field.
