In this episode he shares why AI is killing investor outreach, how his own firm scaled AI contacts from 100 to 400 per week, watched effectiveness collapse, and ripped it all out to go back to manual research. The Post-Editing Paradox: Why Better AI Made Human Review More Critical | Kincaid Day | EP 238

In this episode of the Localization Fireside Chat, Robin Ayoub sits down with Kincaid Day, VP of Global Strategy and Innovation at Welocalize, for a conversation grounded in 12 months of real agentic translation in production. Most AI-in-localization conversations are still theoretical. This one is not. Kincaid breaks down how Opal, Welocalize's agentic translation platform, works in live enterprise environments, why better AI output actually made human review more important, not less, and why closed tech stacks are becoming a strategic liability in the AI era. They also get into the post-editing paradox, the model garden approach, the Phrase partnership, the walled garden problem, and what the localization org chart looks like three years from now. What we cover:   What agentic translation actually means in production Why fluent AI output is harder to review, not easier How Opal's AIPE and AIQE components work together The model garden approach and continuous benchmarking Why Welocalize embedded Opal inside the Phrase Platform The walled garden problem and open ecosystem strategy Where human expertise concentrates as generalist roles disappear What localization looks like in three years   Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/sToxdOCC7I4 CreditsHost: Robin Ayoub, Founder, Localization Fireside Chat Connect and watch moreWebsite: www.L10NFiresideChat.comSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5OoURgc29R31XPGzOWL9iXBe a guest: https://calendly.com/robin-ayoub/localization-fireside-chat-podcast-recordingLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/robinayoub/ Support the showShare the episode with a friend. What Happens to You After You Die Online? with Niki Weiss, Digital Thanatologist

Most of us will be the first generation to die with more digital assets than physical ones. Almost none of us have a plan for it. In this episode of the Localization Fireside Chat, Robin Ayoub sits down with Niki Weiss, a Digital Thanatologist and the Founder and CEO of ENDevo, to ask a question our industry almost never touches: what actually happens to your identity, your data, and your AI generated presence after you are gone, and who controls it when you can no longer advocate for yourself? It is a heavy topic, but Niki makes it practical and even hopeful. Her whole philosophy lives in four words: Live Fully. Die Ready. In this conversation: - Meta's 2025 patent that can turn the accounts of the deceased into AI personas that keep posting and engaging - The 600 billion dollar mountain of cryptocurrency that vanishes with its owners - Ghost accounts, zombie accounts, and the subscriptions that keep charging after death - Griefbots and the new industry building AI versions of the people we have lost - The four pillars of a real plan: legal, financial, physical, and digital - Legacy contacts, multi factor authentication, and the half a million photos on your phone - Why Niki frames end of life readiness as a workforce resilience and business continuity issue every company should care about   Watch the full video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/jaFHIR9PRbE   CHAPTERS 00:00 Welcome and why this topic matters 02:23 Meet Niki Weiss, Digital Thanatologist 05:12 Death is indiscriminate, and your half a million photos 09:01 Do we even own our digital life? 10:27 What is a Digital Thanatologist? 11:38 How Niki got here: healthcare, hospice, and personal loss 16:39 Meta's patent: ghost accounts and AI of the deceased 22:14 Crypto, zombie accounts, and unclaimed digital assets 26:31 The four pillars: legal, financial, physical, digital 30:52 Who has the right to create an AI version of you? 34:47 Data privacy, GDPR, and the rise of griefbots 47:24 ENDevo and My Final Playbook 54:17 Business continuity and workforce resilience 59:33 Three things to do this weekend ABOUT NIKI WEISS Niki Weiss is a Digital Thanatologist working at the intersection of DeathTech, AI, and legacy preparedness. 4. Sales & The Polite No: What Buyers Really Think of Localization Sales, with Wada'a Fahel

Sales & The Polite No: What Buyers Really Think of Localization Sales, with Wada'a Fahel

Most localization vendors believe they know how to sell. The buyer on the other side of the table usually disagrees. In this episode of the Localization Fireside Chat, Robin Ayoub sits down with Wada'a Fahel, founder of LocVerse and a global experience leader who spent more than twenty years on the client side, building localization functions from the ground up at Xerox, Harley-Davidson, and Zendesk across over 150 markets. She has sat in the chair that decides which vendors win the contract and which get the polite no. This is a rare, candid look at how enterprises really hire, manage, and walk away from language service providers. Wada'a shares why the same RFP answers land in her inbox from five or six vendors at once, why automated outreach quietly erodes trust, why clients almost never leave over price, and the single mindset shift that separates a true partner from a replaceable supplier: stop selling, start listening. If you sell localization, language technology, or any B2B service, this conversation is a mirror worth looking into. He Turned $25K Into $1.9M, Lost It, Then Built AI That Protects Your Data | Yagub Rahimov

Yagub Rahimov left Azerbaijan as a teenager on a US cultural exchange program and became an award-winning trader before finishing school, turning 25,000 dollars into 1.9 million before losing most of it to greed. He rebuilt, co-founded a global fintech media group, and exited to private equity in 2020. Today he leads Polygraf AI, an Austin-based company pioneering small language models that run on-premise and on the edge, addressing data leakage, deepfakes, and shadow AI for highly regulated environments. In this episode, Robin and Yagub talk about the bicycle story that shaped his sense of responsibility, the discipline lessons learned from a major trading collapse, why small local AI models can outperform giant cloud models on sensitive tasks, how Polygraf catches deepfakes and AI-assisted interview cheating, the security risks hiding inside bring-your-own-LLM setups, and his vision for AI running privately on every device, from phones to defense systems. Bots Writing Resumes, Bots Screening Them: A DoorDash & OpenTable VP on What Hiring Looks Like Now

Kate Crane studied art history, got laid off six months into her first job during the 2008 financial crisis, and talked her way into a job as a line cook before rebuilding her career through an MBA, management consulting, and a run at DoorDash that took its B2B Drive business from $9 million to over $500 million in revenue. She went on to lead strategy and operations at Flock Safety, run go-to-market strategy at OpenTable, and is now the founder of Direction Over Perfection, coaching the next generation through nonlinear career paths. In this episode, Kate and Robin discuss the "bot to bot" hiring problem, where AI writes resumes on one side and AI screening tools filter them on the other, and what it actually takes for a candidate to get noticed when a human may never read their resume. They also cover the operating discipline behind DoorDash's growth, why storytelling makes or breaks global products, and Kate's advice for new graduates entering one of the toughest job markets in decades. Why Most Brands Are Invisible to ChatGPT (And How to Fix It) | Chris Raulf | Ep. 232

Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is rewriting the rules of online visibility — and most brands, including most language and localization companies, aren't even on the field yet.   In this episode, Robin Ayoub sits down with Chris Raulf, Founder & CEO of Boulder SEO Marketing and one of the world's most recognized AI SEO and GEO experts. Chris has been in search since before Google was even called Google, and he brings nearly 30 years of experience — including time inside the localization industry at Lionbridge and RWS — to break down how AI platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews actually decide what to cite.   What we cover: - What Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is, and how much of traditional SEO still carries over - Why digital footprint now matters more than domain age in the LLM era - The "Big Six" platforms AI models feed on most (YouTube, LinkedIn, Reddit, Quora, Medium, Google Business Profile) - EEAT — Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness — and why it's the new currency of search - How localization and language companies can turn multilingual content into a GEO advantage - Why Chris believes agencies that don't adapt won't survive - What he's teaching the next generation of marketers at the University of Strasbourg   "Digital footprint beats domain age."   ──────────────────────────── Connect with Chris Raulf: Website: https://chrisraulf.com Agency: https://boulderseomarketing.com AI SEO Insighter Podcast: https://chrisraulf.com/podcast LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/chrisraulf YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@ChrisRaulf   Hosted by Robin Ayoub 📖 Blog recap: robinayoub.blog 🎥 YouTube: https://youtu.be/r50Va89dycE CreditsHost: Robin Ayoub, Founder, Localization Fireside Chat Connect and watch moreWebsite: www.L10NFiresideChat.comSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5OoURgc29R31XPGzOWL9iXBe a guest: https://calendly.com/robin-ayoub/localization-fireside-chat-podcast-recordingLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/robinayoub/ Support the showShare the episode with a friend.
