    "Inside _shift" - Andy Pag

Inside _shift is a special bonus series recorded at Space Group’s annual _shift conference. It’s an event that brings together industry leaders and “empowered agents of change” to talk about how we can decarbonise the built environment and push the industry forward. This year, I was lucky enough to chat with some of the speakers and panellists, getting to hear their ideas, stories, and insights first hand. In this episode, I’m joined by Andy Pag, eco-adventurer, award-winning freelance journalist and Corporate Speaker. Andy has a passion for sustainability and a love of alternative travel - including two years exploring the world in an old school bus powered entirely by used cooking oil. He’s turned unwanted materials into feats of engineering, led vehicle-based expeditions to remote corners of the globe, and experimented with innovative forms of travel, from a chocolate-powered lorry to the 'Grease to Greece' car rally. An engineer by training, Andy combines his adventurous spirit with storytelling, winning awards such as a Royal Television Society Award for Best Documentary and a Silver for Best Documentary in the PPI Radio Awards. His work has also appeared on BBC Panorama and Radio 4’s PM programme. Andy shares insights on sustainable travel, embracing change, teamwork, and the realities of achieving a more sustainable world - all told with his trademark wit and energy. "Inside _shift" - Catherine Sinclair

Today, I am joined by Catherine Sinclair. Catherine is an architect and former KTP associate who has been working with Northumbria University and SPACE Architects. Her research focuses on reducing whole-life and embodied carbon from the earliest stages of design, and she’s recently stepped into her new role as Head of Research at SPACE Architects. A real beacon for sustainability within the practice - and recently named one of the RIBA’s Rising Stars - I’m really excited to have her on the podcast again. In this episode, Catherine talks what her experience has been like throughout the project and shares how her research is shaping her new role and also talks about her launch of D-CARB, an embodied-carbon design tool she has developed as part of the KTP which is an open-access, easy to use early stage design tool, integrated into Revit that helps review the Whole Life Carbon impact of buildings from the earliest design stage.   I hope you enjoy this episode! Episode 14 - What is an Architecture degree apprenticeship? Is it for me? (With Daniel Goodricke and Luke Murray)

Hello and welcome to episode 14 of Archipod. Today I am joined by Daniel Goodricke and Luke Murray. Daniel is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture and Built Environment at Northumbria University. Daniel works with a range of years, including the architect (level 7) degree apprenticeship. Luke is a senior lecturer at Ravensbourne University London, leading the BA (Hons) Architecture course. Luke previously worked at London South Bank University where he was involved in discussions with the trailblazer group that created the standard for Architecture degree apprenticeships (levels 6 and 7). Both Daniel and Luke are authors of "Architecture Apprenticeship Handbook" which is described as "A one-stop guide to the level 7 architecture apprenticeship, taking you through key stages of your journey with guidance, precedents and case studies." The book is being published by the RIBA and is available to preorder through RIBA books. It will also be available in different bookshops nationwide including Amazon and WHSmith. The handbook is due to be published around June time. In this episode, we speak about what an architecture degree apprenticeship is. Luke and Daniel offer advice and information to both prospective degree apprenticeship students and mentors/practices. Thanks for listening and I hope you enjoy!
