3 Science-Backed Habits That Will Make You Feel Better Every Day

Drawing on seven years of conversations with leading health experts, Jay explores “complexity bias,” our tendency to believe complicated solutions must be more effective than simple ones. He breaks better health down to three fundamentals: moving your body, protecting your attention, and investing in your relationships. Backed by decades of research, Jay shows why getting the basics right can have a bigger impact than any elaborate routine, and shares a simple 7-day movement challenge to help you put it into practice. If I could sit down with my 21-year-old self, there are a few things I would definitely want to say. Today, I'm going to say them, like 'don't even THINK about moving in with that guy, use your savings account, care less about grades' and a few more. I also asked you guys, the listeners, about your biggest regrets from your early 20s so we can all learn from each other (how nice is that). Watch on Netflix: HERE We discuss: Why the right relationship should expand your life, not shrink it Why you shouldn’t rush into adulthood Financial avoidance and learning to actually save Why audacity can matter just as much as hard work Caring less about grades and more about experience Why nobody can tell you exactly how to live your 20s Happy listening and drop yours below! BITESIZE | The Truth About Stress: How to Reduce Overwhelm & Feel Calmer Every Day | Dr Rangan Chatterjee #682

What has the biggest impact on your health and happiness today? Perhaps you’re thinking it’s work, money, what you eat, how you sleep… Maybe it’s your friends and family and how you interact with them… These are all valid answers. But let me put it to you that I think there’s one factor that is linked to, but overrides, all of these things: stress. Today’s Bitesize is from episode 607 of the podcast which was a solo episode I recorded all about stress.  While some stress is just part of life, if it starts to accumulate it can have negative consequences for our health and happiness. I explain what stress is, how “micro stress doses” can build up and impact on our lives, and I share some simple strategies that can help you de-stress and re-set your day. I genuinely hope this episode helps you see stress differently and reminds you that small, consistent changes can have a profound impact. A little stress is part of life – but chronic stress doesn’t have to be. In my free guide, Break Free From Stress, I share three simple tools you can start using today to calm your nervous system and feel more in control - https://drchatterjee.com/FeelCalmer Thanks to our sponsor https://heights.com/livemore Show notes and the full podcast are available at drchatterjee.com/607 Support the podcast and enjoy Ad-Free episodes. • HAYDEN PANETTIERE: The Truth Behind the Headlines (Finally Telling Her Story In Her Own Words)

    11 May

HAYDEN PANETTIERE: The Truth Behind the Headlines (Finally Telling Her Story In Her Own Words)

Sometimes the hardest part of healing isn’t what the world did to you, it’s unlearning the version of yourself you became just to survive it. Today, Jay sits down with Hayden Panettiere for a raw and powerful conversation where she shares the truth behind a life the world thought it knew, but never truly understood. What unfolds isn’t just a story about fame, it’s a powerful reckoning with identity, pain, and resilience. From losing the innocence of a normal childhood to carrying the emotional weight of growing up in the spotlight, Hayden shares how early success came with hidden costs, bullying, isolation, and a lifelong struggle to feel like she truly belonged. This conversation goes beyond the headlines and into the heart of a woman who has spent decades learning how to separate who she is from who the world decided she should be. As the conversation deepens, Hayden opens up about the hidden battles that shaped her adulthood, including addiction, postpartum depression, and the weight of living her trauma both privately and in public. She reflects on the surreal experience of playing a character whose struggles mirrored her own, where the line between performance and real life pain began to blur. Together, they unpack the patterns, the pressure to please, and the emotions she never had the space to process that kept her stuck in cycles she couldn’t break. Within it all, a powerful truth emerges: healing isn’t linear, and even in the darkest moments, there’s a quiet strength still fighting to rise. Through grief, loss, and unimaginable challenges, Hayden is learning to reclaim her voice, trust herself again, and step into a new chapter defined not by survival, but by intention. In this episode you'll learn: How to Heal When Your Identity Was Shaped by Others How to Rebuild Self-Trust After Years of Self-Doubt How to Break Free from Toxic and Abusive Cycles How to Cope with Anxiety That Feels Never-Ending How to Navigate Postpartum Depression Without Shame How to Stop Living for Approval and Start Living for Yourself How to Let Go of the Need to Fix Everyone How to Set Boundaries with People You Love How to Keep Going When Life Keeps Breaking You If you see parts of yourself in this story, the doubt, the pain, the patterns you wish you could break, know that you’re not alone, and more importantly, you’re not stuck. Healing doesn’t happen all at once, and it doesn’t require perfection. This Is Me: A Reckoning is Hayden’s memoir where she shares a rare and intimate glimpse into her life behind closed doors, opening up about postpartum depression, addiction and recovery, trauma, domestic abuse, and loss. • Dr. Chris Palmer: Your Diet Could Be Causing Anxiety, Depression & Brain Fog (6 Simple Changes to Make Today)

    3 Jul

Dr. Chris Palmer: Your Diet Could Be Causing Anxiety, Depression & Brain Fog (6 Simple Changes to Make Today)

What if we've been thinking about mental illness all wrong? Harvard psychiatrist Dr. Chris Palmer argues that conditions like anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia may be rooted in metabolic dysfunction, not just genetics or trauma. Drawing on decades of clinical research, he explains which chemical additives may be harming our brains, why ketogenic diets are showing remarkable promise for severe mental illness, and why recovery is about far more than willpower. Chris also opens up to Jay about the deeply personal story of his mother that inspired him to pursue psychiatry, and why, despite the growing mental health crisis, he remains genuinely hopeful for the next generation. In this episode you'll learn: How to Recognize the Connection Between Diet & Mental Health  How to Notice Warning Signs of Metabolic Dysfunction  How to Support Loved Ones Through a Mental Health Crisis   How to Become More Resilient with Self-Care   How to Turn Personal Pain Into Purpose  How to Use Fasting & Ketogenic Diets Safely  How to Talk to Kids About Nutrition & Brain Health  Healing rarely comes from one single fix. Instead it comes from understanding the whole person: body, brain, and everything we feed both. Sometimes the most radical form of self-love is simply asking what’s going into your body, and why?  With Love and Gratitude, Jay Shetty JAY’S DAILY WISDOM DELIVERED STRAIGHT TO YOUR INBOX Join 900,000+ readers discovering how small daily shifts create big life change with my free newsletter. • Five Books That Changed the Way I Train, Think, Parent, and Live

Five Books That Changed the Way I Train, Think, Parent, and Live

These are not simply five books I enjoyed reading. These are five books that changed the way I think, train, coach, raise my children, and approach the time I have left. In this episode of the Workouts for Older Men podcast, I explain the most important lesson I took from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big, Never Split the Difference, Mindset, and Awaken the Giant Within. You will learn why “begin with the end in mind” has guided me for almost four decades, why an effective system followed consistently is more valuable than a perfect plan, how men negotiate away their own standards, why a growth mindset becomes even more important as we age, and how taking control of your body can help you take control of your entire life. I also explain how I use these principles with Jayce and Brooklyn throughout their sports journeys—including the end-of-season banquet exercise that challenges them to decide in advance what they want their coach to say about their attitude, effort, coachability, leadership, and value as a teammate. These five books come together to create a powerful formula for older men: Vision. Systems. Standards. Growth. Purpose. We have more time behind us than we do in front of us. That should not discourage us. It should focus us. Decide how you want your story to end—and then earn that ending through what you do today. If you are an older man who wants to build muscle, lose body fat, regain control, and create a clear plan for the next chapter of your life, go to TalkWithSkip.com. Fill out the questionnaire, send me a picture, and let’s have a real conversation about where you are, where you want to go, and what has been standing in your way. #WorkoutsForOlderMen #BeginWithTheEndInMind #PersonalDevelopment #FitnessOver50 #SkipLaCour

Adam Kay: "I was told to man up!" Coping with PTSD and mental health stigma

Just man up. This is essentially what Adam Kay was told when a traumatic day at work left him with PTSD. In this chat with Fearne, former doctor Adam explains why he made the decision to leave the medical profession, and puts a spotlight on the poor mental health of our NHS workers. Adam talks about how, in his case, the job left him feeling paranoid and overcautious, and how he turned to diary writing to process his emotions. They chat about how we can all chip away at any mental health stigma in both the workplace and at home with loved ones, and offer advice for how to put together your own mental health toolkits for crises of varying severity. A Particularly Nasty Case by Adam Kay is out in paperback 2nd July (published by Orion). CONTENT WARNING: This episode contains frank conversation about suicide.
