Dancing With Ourselves

Glee on the Rocks: 5x15 - "Hate Crimes as a C-Plot"

This week, Glee attempts a Very Serious Episode™ and somehow still makes it mostly about Rachel Berry. In 5x15, “Bash,” Kurt is the victim of a brutal hate crime, Blaine gets the worst phone call imaginable, and Burt Hummel shows up to remind everyone how emotions are supposed to work. Meanwhile, Rachel declares war on NYADA because accountability is oppression, and Sam and Mercedes try to navigate race, dating, and New York City while Glee makes deeply questionable choices about everything. Because it's Glee. In 5x16, “Tested,” Blaine spirals over a cronut-based body image crisis, Kurt enters his gym bro villain era, Artie discovers that sleeping with everyone at film school has consequences, and Sam Evans somehow becomes the only functioning adult in New York City. (S3E6) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Motel California

Get ready for one of the best episodes Teen Wolf has ever done. (No, really. Plus some major content warnings for suicide, self-harm, drowning, body horror, murder, and more.) In 3×06, "Motel California," the team, plus the girls trailing in the car behind them, get caught in a massive traffic jam, causing them to hole up in a roadside motel for the night. However, due to spooky and horrifying circumstances beyond their control, they're confronted with personal horrors beyond their wildest dreams. There isn't a lot of plot here to speak of, but we will get up close and personal with the psyches of each werewolf and the community that surrounds them. (S3E7) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Currents

We're moving on to Healers this week on Pack Dynamics - here's hoping they can get some help in time! In 3×07, "Currents," the Alpha Pack continues to target Derek, but his betas have a plan. Not that we don't support flooding the loft and running electrical currents through it, but it seems like a risky plan to us. Especially because Derek lives so high up in the building. But we digress. Dr. Deaton is abducted by the Alphas to become the third sacrifice, but Deucalion gives Scott just enough hints to be helpful. We learn more about telluric currents, about the potential of Scott's powers, and the lengths the Alpha Pack will go to to secure a new member of their pack. Chris Argent has a cool UV-reactive map, Dr. Deaton has a sister (??), and we get the chance to say goodbye to two beloved pack members. (S3E4) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Unleashed

A new semester means a whole new boatload of trauma for our intrepid pack of werewolves (and friends!). In 3×04, "Unleashed," we pick back up with the students who are finally coming back from their Summer of Hell (Boyd and Isaac), get to know our new nemeses from Hell (Ethan and Aiden), and… well, start running cross country to keep sharp for the lacrosse season (Scott). Deucalion tries to convince Derek that he must kill his own pack to join the Alphas and we learn some interesting things about the Hale Pack's old relations to this new alpha. Meanwhile, Stiles and Lydia begin working with Deaton about what kind of new dark creature could be sacrificing people all over town and Lydia begins to fill her school notebooks with drawings of some kind of tree. (S3E17) Pack Dynamics: A Teen Wolf Podcast - Silverfinger

You know what Teen Wolf needs more of? Lore. In 3×17, "Silverfinger," we flash back in time to Chris Argent's first real gun deal, learning he's had more experience with the Oni than anyone expected. The Argent side of the McCall pack look to find an old contact named Katashi, who may have Very Important Lore And Information. In return, Chris plans to give him an old French rifle… which turns out to be a weapon used to murder a werewolf (huh, I wonder if that'll come back later). Meanwhile, the McCall side of the McCall pack is trying to protect Scott from getting attacked by the Oni, and it's going swimmingly. Stiles is exhibiting all kinds of anxiety-inducing behavior, startlingly similar to a list of symptoms exhibited by his now-dead mother. Agent McCall threatens the Sheriff and ends up with a gnarly shoulder wound (unrelated), Stiles checks himself into the hospital and ends up calling Melissa "mom" (unrelated), and, when approached by the Oni, Stiles seems to be the only one who can stop it before it draws the kanji on his head. Weird.
