Listen With Hank Green

Hank Green is the digital generation’s favorite scientist. He can be found in many familiar and obscure corners of the internet—from answering science’s unanswerable questions and debunking myths on TikTok to creating free accessible math and science videos on YouTube. As one of today’s most trusted and familiar voices in the science industry, it was important for the Apple Podcasts team to get Green’s expert take on the hottest topic of our generation: climate change.

“Being terrified of the effects of climate change is rational, but a rational response to that fear is asking, ‘Okay, what are people doing about it?’” he says. “Sometimes you stare at the night sky and realize that we are both a tiny speck of nothing and the only known life in the universe and that’s just an enormous amount of pressure. But that sense of wonder is what has led humans to so much discovery and progress. That’s how we got here! We solved so many problems we created a bunch of new problems!”

Featured in this collection are nine podcasts recommended by Hank Green for educational and inspiring listening this Earth Month and beyond. These podcasts center climate and the future, and Hank has recommended them with the goal of solving for a modern problem, no matter how daunting. “The Sad Gap: the space between when you know about a problem and when you realize that many people (including, potentially, you) are working very hard to solve it. No one knows exactly how we’re going to get there, and how fast we do it is going to matter a lot when it comes to the damage that gets done, but there is no doubt that we can do it.”
