JH should become the communications director for Pope Leo. Many Catholics expect the Pope to be smart, articulate and reasoned. Pope Leo has cone off as ignorant and bumbling. I take no pleasure in saying this. However, instead of contradicting prior Popes, Saints and Doctors of the Church on the death penalty, Pope Leo should havearticulated JP II’s culture of life. Instead of being ignorant on climate change, he should have emphasized our obligations as stewards of the Earth. Instead of ignorantly combining legal and illegal immigration, he should have commended the U.S. as allowing more legal immigration than any other country and recognized the complexity and harm of open borders and the chaos caused in the U.S. and Western Europe. In talking about the poor, he should speak to the $582.5 billion in charitable cash donations in 2024 by Americans and the estimated $2-$5 trillion in donated time. This combined generosity is greater than the GDP of many countries. The Pope desperately needs Joe’s help.
