    Honouring pure intention

In this episode, I talk about something I've been reflecting on lately: the difference between a pure intention and all the fear we layer on top of it. I've noticed that the deepest truths in my life rarely arrive with fanfare. They don't shout. They don't come with a ten-step plan or every answer neatly wrapped up. They usually arrive quietly, as a simple knowing. It might be the feeling that it's time to leave a job, start a business, have a difficult conversation, tell someone you love them, or admit that you don't anymore. The intention itself is often clear, uncomplicated, and deeply true. What makes it complicated is our mind. Almost immediately, it begins projecting into the future. What if this doesn't work? What if I fail? What if I hurt someone? What if I make the wrong decision? What if I lose everything? Before we know it, the simplicity of the original intention has been buried beneath layers of fear, doubt, and imagined outcomes. I don't believe our mind is trying to sabotage us. I think it's doing what it's designed to do: keep us safe. But there comes a point where protecting ourselves from every possible risk also protects us from living the life that's trying to emerge. This episode is an invitation to notice the difference between the quiet wisdom of your heart and the loud stories of your mind. What if you didn't need to know exactly how everything was going to unfold before taking the next step? What if your only job was to honour the intention, trust yourself enough to take the next best step, and allow life to meet you there? I've found that the heart rarely overcomplicates things. It simply knows. It's our fear that tries to convince us otherwise. Support the show

    Wu Wei - effortless action

In this episode, I'm sharing a reflection on Wu Wei, a Taoist principle often translated as "effortless action" or "action without force," and why this ancient wisdom has landed so deeply for me in this current season of life. For years, my business moved with a rhythm I had come to trust. Coaching spots filled, programs attracted people with ease, and opportunities seemed to flow naturally. But this year has looked very different. For the first time in a long time, coaching enquiries have slowed right down, and a program that has comfortably filled for years now has only a handful of participants. This season has challenged me in ways I didn't expect. It has brought up questions about trust, identity, worth, and what happens when the external validation we've become accustomed to begins to quieten down. Rather than immediately looking for another strategy, another offer, or another way to make things happen, I've found myself sitting with a different question altogether: What if nothing has gone wrong? In this conversation, I explore how quickly we can move into fixing, forcing, controlling, and solving when life doesn't unfold the way we expect it to. I share how Wu Wei has invited me to consider a different approach. One that isn't passive or detached, but one that asks us to stop exhausting ourselves by pushing against reality and instead learn how to move with life rather than against it. I also reflect on something I've been thinking deeply about lately. For many years, my work has been about helping people come home to themselves, uncover their conditioning, recognise the ego, and reconnect with who they truly are. But what if authenticity isn't the destination? What if it's only the beginning? Because once we know who we are, life asks us a new question: Can we trust that person? Can we trust ourselves when the future is uncertain? Can we trust ourselves when the evidence isn't there? Can we trust ourselves when life isn't unfolding according to our plans? This episode is a vulnerable reflection on what it means to stay open when certainty disappears, to loosen our grip on outcomes, and to trust that life may be leading us somewhere we never would have chosen for ourselves. If you've ever found yourself in a season where the old ways no longer seem to work, where you're questioning what comes next, or where life is asking you to trust more deeply than ever before, I think you'll find something for yourself in this conversation. In this episode, I explore Wu Wei and effortless action, trusting life through uncertain seasons, navigating change in business and identity, authenticity beyond self-discovery, releasing attachment to outcomes, and learning how to meet life as it is rather than constantly trying to make it something else. My hope is that this episode reminds you that not every season is meant to be conquered. Some seasons are meant to be listened to. Support the show

Kat & Steve - how we unstuck ourselves

Steve and I share the process we both come back to whenever we find ourselves stuck. Whether it's our health, our relationship, our business, money, or life in general, we've found that getting unstuck isn't usually about finding the perfect answer. It's about being willing to face the truth. The first thing we do is face reality. Not the reality we wish we were living, but the one we're actually in. We look honestly at what's hurting, what's frustrating us, what's not working, and where we might be contributing to our own stuckness. It's not always comfortable, but we've learned that pretending, avoiding, blaming, or wishing things were different only keeps us exactly where we are. Once we've acknowledged reality, we ask ourselves a simple question: What would I prefer instead? What kind of relationship do I want to be in? What kind of health do I want to experience? What kind of business, finances, or life do I want to create? Rather than focusing on what's wrong, we start getting clear on where we'd like to head. From there, we look for the next best step. Not the entire roadmap. Not the next twelve months. Just the next step that moves us a little closer to where we'd like to be. But here's where it gets interesting. The practical steps are rarely the hardest part. The hardest part is managing the stories that show up the moment we decide to move. The sabotage brigade arrives. The voice that says it's too late, too hard, too risky, or that nothing will change anyway. The stories that tell us we'll fail, look foolish, waste our time, or end up right back where we started. In our experience, getting unstuck isn't really about motivation. It's about learning how to recognise those stories without handing them the steering wheel. This conversation is about facing reality, creating a vision for something better, and taking one step at a time. Because being stuck isn't the problem. The problem is believing the stories that convince you to stay there. 1:1 COACHING One-time 75 minute coaching call - secure your spot here Read my book, Authentic - coming home to your true self - AUS, EUR, USA Write into us - let us know what you want to hear WelleCo - use code KAT15 for 15% off welleco.com.au www.katjohn.com.au Support the show

Kat & Steve - Accepting reality even when it sucks

Steve and I talk about a phrase we come back to often: This too shall pass. Not as a way to dismiss what we're feeling or to bypass the hard stuff. But as a reminder that life is always moving, changing, shifting, and unfolding. We speak about how so much of our suffering comes from fighting reality. Arguing with what's happening. Wishing it were different. Complaining about it, resisting it, trying to control it. And how exhausting that can be. We share what helps us move from resistance into acceptance. Not liking what's happening. Not approving of it. Just accepting that it is what it is. We also talk about the tendency to fall into absolute thinking when life feels uncertain. The "always," the "never," the "nothing's going to change," the stories we tell ourselves when we're scared, overwhelmed, or trying to regain a sense of control. This conversation is about learning to be okay with the not-okayness of life. About trusting that difficult seasons don't last forever. And about remembering that sometimes the greatest relief comes not from changing your circumstances, but from accepting them. Being authentic all the time is unattainable

The goal is not to be 100% authentic all the time. That’s unattainable. If you think that’s the goal, you’ll spend your life feeling like you’re failing every time you people-please, shut down, react, perform, avoid conflict, seek approval, or slip back into old patterns. That’s not failure. That’s being human. I share about how authenticity isn’t a final destination where you suddenly become fully healed, fully self-expressed, fully “you” all the time. It’s noticing. It’s awareness. It’s catching yourself in the moments where you’re not being true to yourself and getting curious instead of judgmental. Why did I just abandon myself there? Why did I shrink? Why did I say yes when I meant no? What was I trying to protect? That’s the work. Becoming honest, aware, and willing to come back to yourself over and over again. This episode is a reminder that you are not failing because you still have moments where your ego, fear, conditioning, or old patterns take over. The magic is in noticing and choosing to return. Kat & Steve - The load of life

In this episode, Steve and I talk about something I think a lot of couples quietly go through: when the load of life becomes so heavy that it starts impacting the relationship. Not because love is gone or because anyone’s doing something terribly wrong. But because one person is overloaded, stretched thin, carrying too much and the relationship starts feeling the weight of it too. I share honestly about missing Steve recently, even while living in the same house. Missing the connection, the fun, the softness, the smooshiness of us. And how easy it can be, when one person is overwhelmed, for the other person to take it personally and create even more tension in the dynamic. Because when your needs aren’t being met, it hurts. But sometimes, the most loving thing you can do is recognise that your partner is drowning under the weight of life, and stop making their overwhelm about your rejection. We also speak about how unsustainable it is to carry too much for too long. Because if the overloaded person doesn’t deload, eventually something gives. Their health. Their nervous system. Their joy. The relationship. This is a conversation about perspective, compassion, communication, and recognising when life is simply asking too much of someone for too long.
