Welcome to the Awards Radar Podcast. In each episode, Editor-In-Chief Joey Magidson (that’s me!) will be joined by some of the staff of Awards Radar to talk about the latest in film, television, and entertainment in general. The show will obviously have an awards season slant to it, but we won’t forget about other movies and shows, that’s for sure!

#93: Talking 'Thor: Love and Thunder' and Play a Classic Game w/ Joey, Myles and Max

#93: Talking 'Thor: Love and Thunder' and Play a Classic Game w/ Joey, Myles and Max

For episode number ninety three, I’m joined, as always, by Myles Hughes. Steve Prusakowski again has the week off from the podcast, deservedly so I might add, with Phase One of the Emmy season having just ended and behind the scenes work always a focus. As such, this time Myles and I brought on Max Joseph to fill in today. We list some of our favorite films of the first half of the year (with my article hitting tomorrow) and play a classic game! Film-wise, Myles has caught up on The Black Phone (my review is here), Brian and Charles (my review is here), and Fresh (my review is here), while I spoke about Elvis (my review is here) and Marcel the Shell with Shoes On (my review is here). Plus, Max and I shared our thoughts on Thor: Love and Thunder. There's also reader questions, so it's a nice long one this week.

As always my friends and faithful listeners/readers, I do hope you all enjoy the latest episode of the Awards Radar Podcast, our ninety-third one to date (ten more to 100!). Of course, feel free to revisit the previous installments by clicking the Podcast tab (here) on the top of the page. Plus, listen to us on Apple Podcasts (iTunes), Spotify, and other platforms. More to come each and every single week, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you for listening!

#92: Joey and Myles Discuss Actors Who Direct, Plus Much More!

#92: Joey and Myles Discuss Actors Who Direct, Plus Much More!

For episode number ninety two, I’m joined, as always, by Myles Hughes. Steve Prusakowski once again has the week off from the podcast, deservedly so I might add, with Emmy season and behind the scenes work a current focus. As such, Myles and I had one more smaller chat, doubling back to talk about Lightyear a bit, since he'd just seen that, with my review of the being here for you. We also debate Cha Cha Real Smooth, my review of which out of the Sundance Film Festival is here, while I give him some details on The Black Phone, which I just reviewed here. Plus, one of the questions sends us off on a discussion of actors who direct and whether we prefer one aspect or the other. It’s another good chat, for sure.

As always my friends and faithful listeners/readers, I do hope you all enjoy the latest episode of the Awards Radar Podcast, our ninety-second one to date (ten more to 100!). Of course, feel free to revisit the previous installments by clicking the Podcast tab (here) on the top of the page. Plus, listen to us on Apple Podcasts (iTunes), Spotify, and other platforms. #91: Taking Over 'Jurassic World' Before Heading to Infinity (and Beyond) with 'Lightyear'

For episode number ninety one, I’m joined, as always, by Myles Hughes. Steve Prusakowski again has the week off from the podcast, deservedly so, with Emmy season and behind the scenes work a current focus. As such, Myles and I had another smaller chat, doubling back to talk about Jurassic World: Dominion now that he’s seen it (my review is here, again). Then, we talk about Lightyear a bit, since I'd just seen that, with my review of that one being here for you all. It's another good chat, for sure.

#90: Joey Takes Myles on a Trip to 'Jurassic World' and the Duo Discuss 'Crimes of the Future' Again

#90: Joey Takes Myles on a Trip to 'Jurassic World' and the Duo Discuss 'Crimes of the Future' Again

For episode number eighty nine, I’m joined, as always, by Myles Hughes. Steve Prusakowski has the week off from the podcast, deservedly so. As such, Myles and I had a smaller chat, doubling back to talk about David Cronenberg's Crimes of the Future now that he's seen it (my review is here), as well as talking about the filmmaker's best work. Then, having just gotten home from seeing Jurassic World: Dominion, I ran down some of its stranger elements. My review is here, though once Myles begrudgingly sees it, we'll chat about it more. Then, there's some general Jurassic Park chatter, before we take the episode home.

As always my friends and faithful listeners/readers, I do hope you all enjoy the latest episode of the Awards Radar Podcast, our ninetieth one to date (ten more to 100!). #89: Cannes Chat Before More 'Top Gun: Maverick' Raves

#89: Cannes Chat Before More 'Top Gun: Maverick' Raves

For episode number eighty nine, I’m joined, as always, by Myles Hughes, alongside Steve Prusakowski (though Steve was under the weather this week and tapped out a little early). Today, we look at the results of the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, before turning our attention to Top Gun: Maverick, which I previously raved about here, once again. Myles gets to have his say about the Tom Cruise-led sequel, and spoiler-alert, he loves it too. It's a shorter episode this time around, but still a good one...

#88: Joey, Myles, and Steve Talk Tom Cruise As Well As David Cronenberg

#88: Joey, Myles, and Steve Talk Tom Cruise As Well As David Cronenberg

For episode number eighty eight (cue the Back to the Future reference), I’m joined, as always, by Myles Hughes, alongside Steve Prusakowski. This week, we had to address the latest tragedy in America (which I also wrote about here), but then we tried to give you a regular show. We talk about David Cronenberg, Crimes of the Future (which I had just seen earlier in the day), and Tom Cruise (in relation to Top Gun: Maverick, which I previously raved about here). Myles also chimes in on Men (my review from last week is here), while we discuss the ongoing 2022 Cannes Film Festival. So, there's a full slate of topics on display, that's for sure...

As always my friends and faithful listeners/readers, I do hope you all enjoy the latest episode of the Awards Radar Podcast, our eighty-eighth one to date. Of course, feel free to revisit the previous installments by clicking the Podcast tab (here) on the top of the page. Plus, listen to us on Apple Podcasts (iTunes), Spotify, and other platforms. Perfect formula

This podcast finds the right balance between the very detailed and specific shop talk of the Oscars world while also having a really fun hangout vibe like you’re just at your friend’s house talking movies for a while. Definitely something to look forward to each week, can’t wait to hear more!

Fix audio issues please

New subscriber here, really like your podcast but there was a huge audio issue with one of your female hosts this past week. She sounds lovely but every time she spoke there was an awful echo so I dreaded every time she would contribute and that’s a shame because we need female voices!

My goodness, these guys have fun

There's a pretty incredible balance struck on this podcast between the entertaining getting-down-to-business of the Oscar/film talk that you are here for... and the going-off-the-rails total lunacy that it devolves into when you least expect it. These people really know what they're talking about on an industry level and have interesting opinions, sure. But the most important part is that they thrive on crazy and regret nothing. Highly entertaining.
