Patients in search of a miracle cure end up in critical condition. The race is on to find out what went wrong before more people get hurt. The trail leads back to a medical company with slick marketing and a charismatic CEO. And to a multibillion dollar stem cell industry where greed and desperation collide. Wondery Presents: The Apology Line
If you could call a number and say you’re sorry, and no one would know…what would you apologize for? For fifteen years, you could call a number in Manhattan and do just that. This is the story of the line, and the man at the other end who became consumed by his own creation. He was known as “Mr. Apology.” As thousands of callers flooded the line, confessing to everything from shoplifting to infidelity, drug dealing to murder, Mr. Apology realized he couldn’t just listen. He had to do something, even if it meant risking everything. From Wondery the makers of Dr. Death and The Shrink Next Door, comes a story about empathy, deception and obsession. Marissa Bridge, who knew Mr. Apology better than anyone, hosts this six episode series.

Snake Oil Salesman
Great story about mass persuasion, smart schemes, and ultimately a narcissist behind it all (of course, like every great scheme).
Also, I had no idea something could be injected into people legally without having been vetted by the FDA! So interesting. I’m hooked.

Excellent podcast. Being a licensed healthcare provider, I’m very interested in biological medicine to treat health issues. It’s incredible that any company can treat patients in this country with a treatment that is not proven.
