Fishing can be slow. Podcasts about fishing shouldn’t be. That’s why we created Bent, the unapologetic fishing podcast that moves faster than a tournament bass boat but doesn’t take itself near as seriously. Hosts Joe Cermele and Miles Nolte welcome anglers of all backgrounds and interests, from hardcore crappie jiggers to dry-fly purists to offshore tuna addicts. Even if you’re just mildly fish curious, this podcast has something for you: regional fishing reports, tackle tips, trash talk, etymology, weekly news, trivia, even suggestions on how to piss off your fishing guide. Come for the soggy cooler sandwiches; stay for the raccoon-eyes tan lines. Part of The MeatEater Podcast Network.

This week, we bid a warm passive-aggressive goodbye to our beloved co-host Miles Nolte. Brad Leone caters the farewell party with gas station fugu and spicy crab tots, plus, we sell you on flies made of duct tape and go on a quest for elusive “brown snakeheads” (which is not a euphemism for turds).

On this week’s episode of "Fishing Cabin Confessions," we: remind you to smash the barb on your heel before sticking your foot in your mouth, explain why religious figures turn into sailors when they step onto fishing boats, hallucinate baby tarpon in the rocky mountains, and appreciate the finer points of a fly named after a misdemeanor.

Ep. 56: Looking Fly In That Goochie

In this week’s box of stale Lucky Charms, we dig up the issues I have with my father dooming most fishing trips, send in a proof of purchase for some souvenir water, stretch the crumbs to get one more bowl full of walleye, and put the hex on the miserable human that robs children of hatchery mutants.

The week on “E.R. For Eel Trappers,” we: stitch up a swimmer that yelled “shark” in Detroit, tell you how buying oranges is the same as going to medical school, threaten to draw blood over insane streams laws in Utah, and pass out at the site of Miles Nolte’s uncle.

This week, campers, join us for a battery-powered scavenger hunt in blue ribbon trout water, put the Gameboy down long enough to catch a record Chinook, take a course on shooting fish photos that won’t make you look like a psychopath, and remember to knock on the outhouse door before entering.

Roasting marshmallows over a dumpster fire

I get excited about Fridays. Used to be it was because it was Friday. These days I pop awake and know I get to listen to a new episode of BENT on my way to and from work. Imagine my dismay when I heard today that Miles is moving to New Zealand and leaving the show. I felt like my dad just told me he was going out for a pack of smokes. Why? People telework every day. The current format works with Joe in PA and Miles in Mt. Might as well be Chile and Timbuktu. I do confess having enjoyed Ben OBrien on The Hunting Collective, and thought it was nice to hear Lance V’s farewell to Miles. Those are two unrelated statements. #ihopelancediesofdickcancer
