Busy Philipps is Doing Her Best

It's me, your friend Busy Philipps! My creative partner Caissie St. Onge & I love making things that we believe people need & will love & we’ve had so many plans. We had plans to do a TV show that would shake up late night! And we think it kinda did! For six months. We adored our genius, scrappy creative team at “Busy Tonight” as much as we loved our audience, so when we broke the news that we’d been canceled, we vowed to get back up & make even bigger plans to invent a whole new way of doing things in the entertainment biz, to reunite our beautiful staff & change the game for everyone! An entertainment Utopia! And we were so close, then...the world changed. Now those plans are, at the very least, on hold. So, we've shifted gears, like everyone has had to, & with our friends, we're just doing our best, taking it slow & talking to fascinating friends about how *they* are doing *their* best. They’ll tell us all about those times in their lives when a setback actually led to the right thing. Maybe it was a job that didn't pan out, but opened the door to an even more perfect one, or maybe it's how they studied for years to do the thing they thought was their calling, only to fall into something else that felt like kismet. The thing is, we want to share those moments because right now EVERYBODY is having one of those moments. Maybe we'll all learn something life-changing or maybe we'll just have a conversation where we break down in tears, then laugh at ourselves for crying. Whatever happens, we can assure you, Busy Philipps is Doing Her Best!

Thrive Causemetics Founder, Karissa Bodnar “Not Now, Patrick Swayze!”

This week, Busy’s talking a little bit about the latest development in her unique living situation, and Caissie is leaning into joy in the form of finally being able to discuss getting to be the very first guest to stay overnight in the Purple Rain House, thanks to Busy and AirBnB! Then, Biz and Cais are thrilled to talk to the very energetic and inspiring founder of Thrive Causemetics, Karissa Bodnar, about how she came up with the formula for their favorite mascara, Liquid Lash Extensions, and the touching story of what moved her to create a company that isn’t just about making us look good, but also doing good for so many. Jury Duty…Not the Show!

This week, the podcast is a teeny bit late because Busy had jury duty, and as it turns out, it was Caissie’s fault! Hear how Busy’s time in court went and what the gossip columns said she was doing at the US Open and with whom. Plus find out how Caissie lost an entire 24 hours of her Labor Day weekend! CONTENT WARNING: Midway through this recording, the hosts received news alerts that there was yet another school shooting. It is frankly shocking the number of times a mass shooting has occurred simultaneously with the recording of this once-weekly podcast, over the past several years. We’re not even talking about the six other days a week and all of the additional mass shootings that have fallen on those days. It does not have to be like this. After pausing the recording, everyone came back to finish the episode, but we are sending all our love to the students at Apalachee High School and the citizens of Winder, Georgia. It. Does Not. Have. To be. Like this. SPONSORS: http://HungryRoot.com/BUSY for 40% off your first order of fresh high quality food and ready-to-make recipes delivered to your door PLUS free veggies for life. http://ThriveCausemetics.com/BEST for 10% off your first order of innovative cosmetics, including Busy’s fave Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara and Bigger Than Beauty skincare.
