Bridging The Political Divide, Congestion Pricing, Mayoral Race y Más - A Chat w/ BKLYN Borough President, Antonio Reynoso

Take a listen to a conversation with Brooklyn Borough President, Antonio Reynoso about Political Division, Congestion Pricing, Mayor Adams, Nuestros Niños, The MTA, and the NYC madness we are experiencing. 🌹 The Brooklyn Borough President has been a long time friend of Cafecito Break. He is not afraid of questions and unlike many other politicians we have tried to engage in NYC, he is approachable and reachable. 🌹 We may be on different sides of the political aisle but we have common values and goals. We love Brooklyn and want a thriving community for small businesses and families. 🌹 This is step towards rebuilding bridges and closer communications with community leaders and elected officials. Many of these relations have suffered since the days of COVID. In this conversation, we tried to convey that: Being a Trump Supporter is still a dirty word in NYC. Being a Republican is also dirty word in NYC. It spirals some folks into unhinged venom filled tantrums and actions that are illogical and harmful to others. It has affected peoples reputations tambien. The cancel culture has harmed folks abilities to earn a livelihood in some cases. But there is much more…. Some of our friends have experienced violence, threats, and erratic behaviors for being Republican that would make anyone feel unsafe. Our friend, Christian Artist DVS 7.0, has a van with obvious signage of his support for Trump. His van has gotten messed with several times, such as a Biden Harris supporter leaving poop in a bag on his van, putting a Biden Harris sticker on his van, another time he received an unhinged love note and most recently he discovered firecrackers that were going off under his van near the gas tank. At what point do we say this is political violence? What if the van would have caught fire? How can we have effective leadership in NYC if we are fighting, finger pointing and not listening to each other? 🌹There is an unacceptable Political divide in NYC. There is an unacceptable communication gap. As you can imagine, we don’t agree on several issues, there are many topics to still discuss, but we are friends and those differences will not stop us from looking for ways to work together for the greater good of our communities and this place called Brooklyn we love so much. 🌹 Stay tuned for updates. This conversation went so well, we are in talks of scheduling another one. 🌹 Thank you Isabel for helping to make this conversation possible. Looking forward to the next chat Antonio. 13 Years, 13 Lessons: Conquering Imposter Syndrome, Naysayers & Insecurities—Still Standing Strong!

Guess what? It’s our 13th birthday! Our podcast first hit the airwaves on International Women’s Day March 8th, 2012 on WBAI in NYC. Our first topic was about Women and Intuition. Our production from Engineer, to Producers, to Hosts and Guests ALL WOMEN… While our intention was to direct our messages to the ladies, our main audience from Day 1 and 13 years laters has been mostly men. Wild right? Nevertheless, we want to say THANK YOU! to each and everyone of you who have been in our lives, who have supported our dreams, visions, and messages and a SPECIAL thank you for those who you who stood by us during that DARK time when many folks PEACED out of our lives. In this video Alex and I talk about lessons we have learned along the way from dreaming up Cafecito Break, defending her takedowns, defending her from the debbie downers and defending her from Imposter Syndrome. Cafecito Break represents la gente, community. Within her there are moments in which each and everyone of you have been a part of! You don’t know how much your presence in our lives has meant to us. During moments when perhaps we thought about giving up, God would send an angel disguised as one of you to encourage us to go forward. WE WOULD NOT BE HERE if it wasn’t for you… for your prayers, your love, your comments, your donations, your support. We love you! The Perez Sisters de Cafecito Break! The Time I Lost My Voice for 30 Days

Hello Cafecito Breakers, We love our coffee and we also love the mic… as it has become a useful tool for communications…. PERO, sometimes too much coffee or too much talking can be a bit too much. And sometimes, the universe will put a halt on the things you love the most. This happened to me last year when I wanted to share and communicate so much, but my body and my voice had other plans… And then when I lost my voice for 30 days, I knew that God was saying, “WOMAN, you need to yield and rest and respect that right now you can’t talk and you can’t sing.” At the height of this experience, I was scared that my voice was going to be affected forever. No one understood why my voice was taking so much time to come back. I was very scared and grieving the possibility that I wouldn’t be able to sing again or even host a podcast. I was getting depressed. I missed end of year festivities and long awaited family / friends gatherings. My days were spent living a quiet world. All I could do was receive words and input. I would walk around with a note pad and share notes…. And day after day… was the same thing. In the am I would rise and test my voice and no sound was coming out. The rest of me was feeling fine…. but no voice. I had no choice, but to go into the void and yield and REST. And it felt like a dark void. I felt like I signed up for one of those silent retreats I would never sign up for…. After the sulking period passed, I started moving into acceptance and gratitude. I started developing a quiet routine which included finding Youtube teachers on different subjects to keep my mind active and in learning mode. One of my all time favorite Youtube teachers is Tony Robbins. Here’s a lil clip from Tony: What Are You Going To Focus On? Do you have Youtube Teachers? Feel free to share some of your favorites below. Cafecito Break is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. We encourage you to listen to this and por favor… share this forward. This is one of those conversations that should be shared with others. New York elections have many holes in their process.
