    Episode 230: Pigs, Politics, and the Other Side

    What do hydration mishaps, oddly specific church service times, a herd of pigs, and political division have in common? Somehow, they all made it into this episode of Chasing the Rabbit. After the usual assortment of rabbit trails—including fall weather, Merge stories, and churches that apparently schedule worship by Bible verse—the guys eventually cross the Sea of Galilee and land in Mark 5. There, Jesus meets a man whose life is completely transformed: chaos becomes peace, shame gives way to dignity, and a man once kept in chains is suddenly sitting, clothed, and in his right mind. From there, the conversation turns to missions, the “so what” and “now what” of faith, and the uncomfortable question of whether we’re willing to cross our own modern-day “other sides”—even when that means crossing the political aisle.     Episode 229: Syrup, the South, and the Never-Ending End

    From candy criticism to colonial linguistics, the guys go full rabbit hole before anyone has even introduced themselves—and honestly, that’s peak Chasing the Rabbit! Along the way, they settle absolutely nothing about the proper pronunciation of “syrup,” explore Southern accents, and discover why an Outer Banks dialect might be some of the most authentic English around. Then the conversation turns toward Revelation 21–22 and the conclusion of the Snapshots series. Is heaven God’s evacuation plan—or the completion of everything He has been redeeming? The guys talk about the garden lost, the world made new, and the Book that matters. It’s an episode that starts with candy and accents, wanders toward eternity, and somehow brings the whole rabbit trail home.

    Episode 228: Rabbit Rugs, Coffee Mugs, and the Prodigal Son

    All five pastors are back around the table—and the rabbit trails begin almost immediately. From a surprisingly large rabbit-fur rug and favorite coffee mugs to fast-food failures and questionable restaurant decisions, the conversation covers plenty of ground before turning toward something much deeper. Continuing through the Snapshots series, the guys revisit Luke 15 and the story commonly known as the Prodigal Son. But this story is really about two lost sons: one separated from the father through rebellion, and the other through religion. Together, they explore the danger of an older-brother mindset, why repentance requires more than simply recognizing our circumstances, and what it truly means to come home to God. Along the way, they remind us that the younger son sought mercy but received grace—and that repentance begins when we stop blaming the far country and start walking toward the Father.     Episode 227: Mint Chocolate Ice Cream and Goober Grape Theology

    What do an Appalachian Trail app, a Boom Boom nasal stick, homemade mint chocolate chip ice cream, and Goober Grape have in common? Somehow, they all lead to a conversation about the death and resurrection of Jesus—which sounds about right for Chasing the Rabbit. With Jeremy away on jury duty, Brooks, Jason, Eric, and a nearly voiceless Adam discuss trail names, homemade ice cream, back-to-school routines, Savannah Arts Academy’s Senior Walk, and the sixth graders moving into “big church.” They also settle the important theological question of whether saved people premix their peanut butter and jelly. Then the conversation turns to Jesus’ death and resurrection and the remarkable ways the whole story of Scripture comes together at the cross. The guys explore the Four Cups of Passover, the sour wine offered to Jesus on hyssop, Psalm 22, the necessity of the resurrection, and how the story of Ruth and the kinsman-redeemer points us directly to Jesus. They also celebrate a growing ministry at Summer Breeze assisted living and preview the upcoming Summer Throwback Night of Worship—complete with throwback songs, prayer for the new school year, and homemade ice cream because, apparently, the deacons made a decision.     Episode 226: Heman, Turkeys, and a Redeemer

    With Brooks away on vacation, Adam takes over the host’s chair—and Jason and Eric join him for an episode filled with ministry updates, meaningful reflections, and some wonderfully strange rabbit trails. The guys celebrate students returning from MFuge, where an unexpected change of plans led to blessing bags, neighborhood prayer walks, and two courageous student testimonies. Then they explore the beautiful story of Ruth and Boaz, discovering how the kinsman redeemer points directly toward Jesus and reminds us that God is weaving together a story far greater than anything we can see in the moment. Along the way, Adam’s security camera mistakes a dog for two wild turkeys, reports a fully clothed man watering the lawn, and eventually claims someone is vacuuming the grass. Plus, the guys make an important biblical discovery: He-Man really is in the Bible—they were just missing the dash. It’s an episode about unexpected plans, unlikely people, God’s redeeming work…and artificial intelligence that still cannot identify a turkey.
