066: Maison Amahle w/ Nigel Ndlovu

In this episode, Nat is joined by Nigel Ndlovu, founder of Maison Amahle, the world’s first Afro-Swiss luxury watch house. Nigel shares the remarkable journey behind building a luxury brand rooted in African heritage, faith, craftsmanship, and intentional living. From growing up in Botswana to pursuing a dream in Switzerland, Nigel reflects on the early moments that sparked his fascination with watches, including a school prize that quietly planted the seed for what would later become Maison Amahle. The conversation explores the artistry and engineering behind luxury watchmaking, the emotional power of mechanical watches, and the years of precision, patience, and storytelling required to bring a timepiece to life. Nigel also explains how African identity and symbolism are intentionally woven into Maison Amahle’s designs, from the inspiration behind the brand’s name to details shaped to reflect elephant tusks, honouring strength, heritage, and beauty. Nat and Nigel also discuss migration, family legacy, faith, entrepreneurship, luxury culture, and what it means to build something meaningful in a world obsessed with speed and hustle. Plus: Switzerland, Black identity abroad, craftsmanship, Black Coffee, Apple Watches at formal events, and why time might be one of the most spiritual things we experience. //////// Chat With Nat is a podcast that amplifies diasporic voices, memory, migration, and identity - with laughter and reflection. 063: Slipping Through My Fingers

Part Two of my conversation with Judith (host of the Awakened & Anchored podcast). In this episode, the conversation turns deeply personal. Judith and I reflect on the different seasons of womanhood and motherhood, and what it means to navigate life when things feel like they are slipping through your fingers. We talk honestly about the pressures of responsibility, the quiet moments of doubt, and the unexpected ways that motherhood reshapes who we are. We also explore the idea of recognising the season you’re in, rather than constantly trying to push through it. Sometimes growth looks like building. Other times it looks like resting, surrendering, or allowing life to refine you in ways you didn’t anticipate. Whether you’re a mother, navigating a demanding season of life, or simply trying to understand where you are in your own journey, this episode is an invitation to pause, reflect, and honour the season you’re in. ———- Judith is the founder of Awakened and Anchored. They also get into the fallout from the BAFTA Awards and the conversations that followed. Who was celebrated, who was sidelined, and what it all says about culture, power and platform. 061: From Radio to The Batman: Amanda J. Sibanda’s Film Journey

Part 2 of my conversation with Amanda J. Sibanda. Although this episode was recorded first, it follows her recent appearance on the podcast, so think of this as the origin story. In this conversation, we explore Amanda’s creative evolution and her deep fascination with the intersection of storytelling and visuals. She reflects on how music videos, particularly the bold cinematic style of Hype Williams, shaped her early creative instincts and influenced the way she thinks about narrative and image. We trace her beginnings, where she studied journalism and worked at Rhodes University as a music librarian, producer and show host, developing an ear for rhythm and story long before stepping onto film sets. From there, we discuss her move to the UK, her time at London Film School, and the realities of building a career in film across borders. We also talk about the high of working on The Batman and what it really means to operate “on the day” in a film environment. Amanda also shares insight into the three short films she wrote and directed last year. You will want to follow her to stay updated on their release. -------------------------------- Stay in touch with Amanda: https://www.instagram.com/amandajsibanda/?hl=en The Scriptwriter tracker: https://amandajsibanda.gumroad.com/l/thescriptwritingtracker?utm_source=ig&utm_medium=social&utm_content=link_in_bio&fbclid=PAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQMMjU2MjgxMDQwNTU4AAGnXyzjirCMewq43SNGQfQzrMB7EG1fpObgTqVu8Lniv3dntxO7Qf7AJsv5L7c_aem_P9-Upmn8AP_StcR4MbY1BQ ---------- Chat With Nat is a podcast that amplifies diasporic voices, memory, migration, and identity - with laughter and reflection.  Hosted by Natasha, a Zimbabwean living in London, the show explores the dual, nuanced experiences of migrants navigating life between worlds.  Whether it’s light-hearted chats or deeper conversations, Chat With Nat is your space to feel seen, understood, and a little less alone.
