The desire to “be right” is real and with it comes judgement that keeps us from reaching our potential and goals. Even the obvious is not always obvious.     What are you fighting for?

    When you come up on the time of year where setting goals is popular don’t miss the opportunity as a leader to make an impact. Ask the question, What are you fighting for? Many people think that they are fighting for something but in reality, they’re just trying hard. Hoping things work out. Help the people you lead fight for something but shortening up the time frame of that goal. Break it down to the ridiculous, make it specific and do your part to keep it in front of them. It will make a difference in the success rate but most important, you will find that some folks aren’t fighting for anything. You can be the game changer there. Thank you as always.     Chips are good

    Some say it’s bad to walk around with a chip on your shoulder. While I realize that if that is the only thing you think about and act on there can be some negative but I don’t think we utilize that chip enough when we need some extra motivation and we all need some extra motivation from time to time. We all have a story. A time where we had to overcome challenges in our lives. It doesn’t have to be something that is picked up by TMZ. It only needs to matter to you.     Adjust your target

    Wether in business or in leading a team, we have worked or played with team members that have been here a while. Veteran team members and help create a culture or start a company. Sometimes our veteran’s production becomes average or they themselves become complacent and it is our job as the leader to give them a “check up from the neck up”.     This episode refers to the different generations that we work with and as I hear quite a bit, frustrate us with their habits. I think it is a right of passage to complain about the generations that we don’t understand so Coffee’s for closers is about the transformation that coffee in the office has had since the early 1900’s and how to use those facts to communicate to our younger generations instead of complaining about their habits.
