How I Breathe Through Life... A Conversation w/ Lara Land

How I Breathe Through Life... A Conversation w/ Lara Land

Cornbread and Conversations Episode 3 special guest is yogi, author, advocate, and (part of an elite group of women I've dubbed) "petite powerhouses," Lara Land. Although I'm certain she can support her entire body weight on one hand, that's not her superpower. The obedience to her calling is. From India to Rwanda, Lara is both a student and a teacher. With deep cleansing breaths of fresh air, Lara arrived in Harlem on purpose and with a mission - to make yoga and wellness accessible to everybody. With the founding of Land Yoga and SoulFest, this vision blossomed and now includes two books, her evergreen journal My Bliss Book (which I gifted to my college-bound loved ones), and the newly released Guide to Trauma Sensitive Yoga - which is for you too, trust, plus retreats and more.

Our shared passion and respect for the oneness that is advocacy and community made this conversation a must. I pray that this episode gives you that needed pause that life requires that we often ignore while connecting with the essence of Cornbread and Conversations. This release falls on the week of my 51st birthday, what a gift to record from the home of broadcast, the iconic Rockefeller Center Newsstand Studios, and partner with Tishman Speyer. Enjoy & Cornbread hugs!

    *GRITS, Brooklyn-style: Chef Mavis-Jay Sanders

    *GRITS, Brooklyn-style: Chef Mavis-Jay Sanders

Episode Two is hot out of the oven fresh, with award-winning chef and culinary change agent, Chef Mavis Jay Sanders. I so enjoyed meeting Chef Sanders during her James Beard award-winning weekend in 2022 and was immediately drawn to her authentic spirit and infectious passion for being the change she wanted to see in the industry. At that moment I knew I wanted to collaborate and keep the conversation going for the food and the culture.
So pull up your chair and take a listen as we chat crudite style "about all the things" from our weekend in the Chi to the Black farming crisis, and how her Dad is going to make me one of his famous pound cakes - wait did he say that our was I dreaming?? You'll have to take a listen to find that out and more about the deliciously accomplished Chef Mavis Jay Sanders aka GRITS Brooklyn-style!
    Cornbread hugs!

Special thanks to my partners Rockefeller Center Newsstand Studios, Tishman Speyer, and my awe-mazing engineer, Joseph Hazan for being the home and so much more for Cornbread and Conversations.

"Seated with Alores Norris, Beauty in Every Shade and Stage"

"Seated with Alores Norris, Beauty in Every Shade and Stage"

Welcome to the first episode of Cornbread and Conversations. This episode introduces you to Alores Norris Cornbread and Conversations' Beauty Correspondent,  founder of the House of Flawless Beauty, best-selling author, media personality, my cousin and so much more! Take a listen as we dive into our love for make-up in/on every shade and stage of our lives.
A little background of how this episode came to life: while dealing with the ebbs and flows of entrepreneurship and friendship we found comfort in knowing that our angels - our mothers both named Dolores (her mom with an E) were ordering our footsteps together. Our lives had taken identical turns and we both took comfort in knowing that we had each other, which empowered us to continue to flawlessly walk into our God-given purposes.
As we engaged in a good kee-kee, the mic disappeared, and the warmth of being at home with some straight-out-the-oven cornbread made for an authentic conversation that I pray will brighten your day. Please take a listen be inspired, follow us, and subscribe as I've saved you a seat! Cornbread hugs from Rockefeller Center's Newsstand Studios.
