    The Power of Curiosity

    The Power of Curiosity

In today’s episode of Creating The Path, I’m talking about how powerful curiosity is and why we should develop it.

This is because curiosity is at the heart of some of the most essential skills, like resilience and problem-solving.

We all know how essential it is for us to be resilient because it helps us survive setbacks or difficult times coming out stronger, and empowers us to grow from those experiences.

And when it comes to problem-solving, it is a much-needed skill in every area of our life. We always need to find a solution when we encounter a problem whether it’s small or trivial.

So let’s highlight the power of curiosity in this episode.

    Topics discussed in this episode:
[00:28] The power of curiosity and why it is one of the most important skills[01:03]  How curiosity fuels resilience and problem solving[05:04] The difference between growth mindset and fixed mindset[06:54] Clarity in Business

    Noteworthy Quotes:

“We can develop our curiosity and train ourselves to be more curious.”
“Resilience is essential for us to not just survive setbacks or difficult times, but to come back stronger, and to grow from those experiences. That's resilience.”
“Problem-solving is an essential skill because it's needed in every area of our life.”
“When you're in a fixed mindset, you're not likely to be curious, because you're probably just assuming that this is the way things are, and there's no way to change it.”
“Most of us will have a mix of growth and fixed mindsets, in different areas of our life.”
“If you can catch yourself and notice when you have a fixed mindset, or even just noticing when you have a problem that's difficult to solve, then you can bring curiosity to the situation, and start asking questions.”
“Try to understand all the aspects of the problem, brainstorm all the possible solutions you can think of, even the ones that seem silly or stupid.”
“Whenever we aren't sure what to do in our business, we talk about how we need clarity. And if you think about it, that is problem-solving. The problem is we don't know what to do. And clarity is the solution, or at least we think it is.”

Giving Yourself Permission to Let Go

Giving Yourself Permission to Let Go

In today’s episode of Creating The Path, I’m talking about giving yourself permission to let things go.

You may or may not have noticed that I didn't release a podcast episode last week. That was because I was working on a project, and I didn't anticipate how long it was going to take me to complete it.

So, I had to let things go. I had more on my plate than I could handle.

And letting things go can look like two different things, it can either look like not doing something at all or letting go of the need for it to be perfect. So, let’s talk about that.

    Topics discussed in this episode:

[00:54] Why I didn’t release a new episode last week[03:09] Letting things go and prioritizing [06:01] Letting go of perfectionism[07:24] Protecting yourself and your health

    Noteworthy Quotes:

“I realized that letting things go can look like two different things, it can either look like not doing something at all or letting go of the need for it to be perfect..”

“Letting go of things can mean learning how to accept and recognize when things are good enough. Because when you have perfection, perfectionist tendency, it's highly likely that your standards for good enough are way higher than other people.”

“Remember, it’s okay to give yourself permission to just let things go.”

Working Less and Creating a 16-hour Workweek

In today’s episode of Creating The Path, I’m talking about working less and creating a 16-hour workweek.

    Yup, you read that right.

I want to talk about why creating a short workweek is so important and share the three reasons I believe you should create a shorter workweek for yourself. So, let's get into it.

    Topics discussed in this episode:

[02:37] What I think about the 40-hour workweek[06:24] 3 reasons to work less and create a 16-hour workweek[13:08] How my life used to be when I was working 50-60 hours a week[14:31] Episode recap

    Noteworthy Quotes:

“I actually don't think a 40-hour workweek is good for most people. I just think that we got stuck in that structure because someone decided it should be the norm.”

“We got adapted to living at a certain level of tiredness.”

“There are just so many things to do, and so many things we can experience outside of work. And I think you deserve to have the time to do those things.”

“I know that I can do that and not have everything in my life fall apart because I have the flexibility to take care of myself when I need to.”

“I think we should all have enough whitespace in our calendar so that we can either use that free time to do fun things, or just relax. Or we can use that time to get the car repaired when it breaks down. Or to take care of ourselves a family member or pet when they get sick.”

So today, I have three key CEO mindset shifts for you. Whether or not you think of yourself as a CEO, you are not only are you the CEO of your business, you're the CEO of your life. So, let's get into it.

Very helpful!

I listened to the first two episodes, and they are so helpful. I love that Heather talks not only about the what of finding a path forward, but the how. She gave really specific instructions in how to identify where you dream about being, as well as concrete steps. I will surely be listening in the future, especially since she also has such a silky way of speaking. Thank you, Heather!
