On August 22nd, 1922, LA police found Dolly Oesterreich locked in her closet and her husband Fred, shot dead. Dolly professed her innocence, but police were certain that she played a hand in Fred's death. Oscar Slater and Marion Gilchrist with Fred Cooke

First I have to ask, why is it hosted by comedians? Crime isn’t funny. Still might have been a good show if they weren’t all the time going off on a tangent about something totally unrelated to the subject.

I like this show. It’s an overview of a crime, and the guests asking questions make it even more informative. Julie is lovely and funny. She is always respectful of the victims.

Sorry ladies but I couldn’t follow. Ya were jumping around so much. I really wanted to listen because I believe the Andreacchio’s deserve justice but I couldn’t finish.

I follow Julie Jay on Instagram, which is how I found out about her podcast Crimeland. I can’t recommend this podcast highly enough. It is utterly brilliant and incredibly unique. The stories she chooses to talk about are intensely dark and some are truly disturbing, but then along Julie comes with her comedian friends to actually make these stories funny. Who knew I would laugh at true crime? My favorite podcasts are the ones in which the other comedians really take an interest in the story Julie is telling and they have a thoughtful and insightful conversation. Some are better at this than others, but the show is always entertaining because Julie is incredibly invested in telling a good story. She also does good research, tells her listeners about her sources and makes sure to be fair in her telling as well. We get to make up our own minds; she doesn’t tell us what to think. Truly a joy to listen to!
