A Source of Virtual Camaraderie

In the past year, David has responded to COVID-19, elections, insurrection, anti-Asian violence, and even Winter Storm Uri (as a very disgruntled Texan, I especially appreciated this) through this podcast. The podcast has been true to its name: Culturally Relevant. In a time when we must also be somewhat distant from each other, the podcast has been a source of virtual camaraderie. Listening to him and his guests talk through the issues of the day in a relatively calm and informal way is comforting. It isn’t a news podcast, nor is it a high key politics podcast meant to get one’s blood roiling one way or another (although relatively calm and very reasonable venting does occur), just people conversing about culturally relevant things of the day. I have appreciated that the podcast didn’t simply hew to talking about pop (entertainment media) culture, though I look forward to a day when I crave less virtual camaraderie over immediate disasters and more conversation about pop culture.

A very underrated pop culture podcast

A very earnest and thoughtful series of discussions on media and pop culture and how we relate to media in a broader sense as a society.
