I lived in Italy in 1999, haven’t been back since 2000. So to retain my fluency in Italian, I try regularly watch Italian news on YouTube. This podcast though is the best thing I’ve come across. The narrator speaks so clearly, with such good diction and enunciation, that his Italian is extremely easy to understand. Often when I listen to the telegiornale news in Italian, they are talking about the political situation in Italy, which is very difficult for me to understand, even in English. Talk of Italian parliamentary politics in Italian is very difficult for me to follow, even though I am fluent. But this podcast deals with the American political system that I know and understand. I’m also a history buff, and it describes a lot of the history that I’m already familiar with. As a result, it’s an excellent way for me to practice my Italian listening comprehension, and I pick up a lot of new vocabulary. If your Italian is fluent and you are interested in how American politics is explained to to non Americans, I can’t recommend this podcast enough.
