    MPs are back in parliament for the new term, but for one, Exmouth and Exeter East member David Reed, the summer beard could have precipitated a tumble down the sexy MPs' survey - he was top, bar one until recently. A North Molton couple have taken to sea to help with medical care on a Mercy Ship in North Africa. Exeter Chiefs didn't end pre-season well. We report from Sandy Park.     Beds, trains, badgers and thespians

    Devon's getting around £6 million of new funding to support the county's homeless population, with a view to providing accommodation to all who need it by Christmas. Exeter MP Steve Race (Labour) says it's much-needed cash for a complex problem. Trains are on the mind of Rebecca Smith, the Conservative MP for South West Devon. She wants the government to get the Plymouth to Tavistock line back on track. A new Theatre Royal Plymouth co-production, Badgers, has been at the Edinburgh Fringe. We speak with playwright Malaika Kegode ahead of its run at the Drum Theatre. And a new book explores the rich history of Sidmouth's Manor Pavilion, unique in retaining its summer rep season.     Devoncast - new Chiefs owners, climate forum disruption and Car Man in Plymouth

    Exeter Chiefs ended the season as Prem runners-up, with fans enjoying a day out at Twickenham, even if they didn’t enjoy the result. We hear from players and coach Rob Baxter, as well as talk to former club owner Tony Rowe. After 30 years at the helm, he’s staying on as chief executive as an American sports investment company takes over. Exeter University’s held a climate forum, attractive delegates and speakers of national and international renown. But activist group Extinction Rebellion took exception to one of the sponsors and staged a protest. Leading the group was a graduate student in global sustainability who tells us that previous action has led to change. Hit dance thriller Car Man from Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures company returns to the Theatre Royal Plymouth. We hear from a member of the backstage team who’s sprung from Devon to tour the country with the show. Plus Fairlynch Museum at Budleigh Salterton has honoured an Exeter archaeologist specialising in pre-historic marine life.
