 The one about Hagatha’s and the room nobody remembers. Dispatch 23 begins in a desert bar just after one in the morning, where the narrator is thinking about a word he has recently encountered: liminal—a threshold, a place between places. Before he can follow the thought very far, his brother Fred calls with an unusual problem. A hidden space has been discovered inside a wall, the house feels strangely cold, and what begins as a practical question slowly slips into something neither brother can quite explain.

The conversation unfolds with Dispatch's familiar blend of comedy and curiosity. Fred investigates the unknown with a screwdriver and a turkey thermometer. Marlene provides the steadier voice.
