#840 - Preparing to defend a football title (w/ Anna Snyder)

Duke Football is close to opening up their season as the defending ACC champions. What’s in store for them? On Episode 840, we speak with Anna Snyder of the Fayetteville Observer on where the football team is at as they finish out the preseason. The biggest question facing the Blue Devils this season: who will start at QB? All signs point to either transfer Walker Eget or sophomore Dan Mahan. Whoever is under center, they will have Nate Sheppard to hand the ball to and Jeremiah Hasley to throw the ball downfield to as they try to put points on the board. Anna takes us through the offense and defense and speaks to what qualities will be the calling card for Duke this season as they seek to defend their title against all doubters. We also dip a bit into the basketball, asking Anna about the summer and which players have been the ones to stand out in practice. We also see which non-conference games have her the most excited about the season as Duke hopes to add to their banner collection atop Cameron Indoor Stadium. We end the show with an update on Mike Corey’s recovery from a tragic car accident that claimed the life of his son, Teddy. Mike physically is doing much better and appreciates all the well-wishes. Emotionally, that toll will take a bit longer for him and his family to process. A memorial fund has been established in Teddy’s honor, and we encourage everyone to share it widely and pay tribute to Teddy’s life that was taken far too soon. Make sure you’re following us! #838 - Preseason schedule, meet legal chaos

Duke has its preseason schedule set, and legal chaos has added an entire class of athletes back to the player pool. Jason and Donald dissect it all on Episode 838. First off, Duke has announced their preseason schedule: a home scrimmage against Belmont on October 8th, a home preseason game against Tennessee on October 20th, and then traveling to Allen Fieldhouse to face Kansas in a preseason game on October 25th. We go through what those games can bring for the Blue Devils as they prepare for the season. We also get into the ACC preseason rankings for football. Duke, the defending ACC champions, are once again disrespected as they are picked to finish 10th. Jeremiah Hasley does get some love in the All-ACC Preseason Team. After the break, we dive into the legal chaos that ensued on Friday as 2 court rulings essentially made it where every student-athlete in the incoming Class of 2022 are eligible for a 5th year of competition. We discuss how that and pending Congressional legislation could open the door for some players to come back to college sports, with the caveat that the courts could reverse their decision at any time. #837 - Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje speaks on JoJo's path to Duke

On Episode 837, we have a very special interview! We get to chat with Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje, the father of incoming freshman Joakim Boumtje Boumtje! JoJo has had a non-traditional journey to a traditional pathway to the NBA due to Ruben’s career in the NBA, overseas, and now as an executive for the Basketball Africa League. We start by discussing Joakim’s path and what Ruben and his family was looking for in a place for JoJo to develop into the budding star he has become. We ask Ruben if Joakim is really 7’2” and where he thinks JoJo can get even better as he starts at Duke. We also get into the BAL and how it has grown to be a pipeline of talent to the college level as players aspire to make it to the NBA. We talk about how the league is coming along and what its future holds as Africa becomes a major power in the sport. Make sure you’re following us! #836 - Duke-Michigan axed, but Duke goes to new heights

We’re back with Episode 836 as some schedule news and team updates had us reacting on a Friday morning! Donald and Jason start off with the reports that the Duke-Michigan game has been canceled due to the dispute Fox and the Big Ten had with Amazon Prime broadcasting the game. Instead, Duke will reportedly face Texas Tech on December 21st at Madison Square Garden. We react to the news that an elite matchup is making way for a still very strong matchup. Army also has announced that their game against Duke will open up the 2026-27 season on November 2nd. We discuss the knowledge that our great matchup against West Point will be the season opener. After the break, we get into Javin DeLaurier coming back to Duke to serve as a player development assistant for the team. Having members of The Brotherhood come back to help out the current team is always welcomed, and we love Javin in this role. We then get into the heights and weights for the 2026-27 team that were released yesterday. Biggest note: we have some SIZE. We end by sending some love to one of our own after an unspeakable tragedy. Make sure you’re following us!
