Elevator Systems - Bowen Family Systems Theory

This is a seriously great podcast. I have never listened to all episodes of any podcast but I will with this one! The structure ( pitch, examples, why useful and takeaways ) is brilliant, the contributions are thoughtful and delivered with humility and clarity. Fairly new to Bowen, but this podcast has made learning it an even greater joy. It makes me realize I can study and work on this for the rest of my life AND it will be a rich, substantive and fun experience! Thank you both for all the hard work and prep you clearly put into this, it very much shows. And the elevator ding sound is a little Pavlovian… I expect a quality conversation every time I hear it!

I tried, I really tried listening to this podcast with an open mind because I wanted to learn more about Bowen family systems. But in the episodes I listened to, the two speakers — Dixie and Katie — are so unaware of their speaking style, which is long-winded and replete with “like” and “you know” that it was just making it hard to listen. Nevertheless, I gave it a go, and I listened to the whole thing. And when reading the transcript, it’s even worse. So— please give your listeners something more substantial. Listen back to yourselves and minimize the “like you know” valley girl talk.
