    How to Find Your Way with Colleen Martindale

    In the season finale of season 1 of EmpowerSpace, we interview Colleen Martindale, a Director at McCarthy Building Companies, on How to Find Your Way. Colleen gives tangible advice from her experience building McCarthy’s Partnership for Women for those looking to implement a similar program and the successes they have seen from the program. We talk about the importance of bringing your authentic self to the workplace, Colleen’s musical talents, and the benefits of being multilingual. Additionally, we talk about the importance of building relationships and making connections and how to get better at it and feel more comfortable doing so. Colleen also discusses the importance of feedback, creating an elevator pitch for yourself, keeping a list of small victories, and ensuring your value is recognized.     Know Your Worth with Zaida Basora

    In this episode, we speak with Zaida Basora, Executive Director of AIA Dallas. We had an amazing conversation about being creative and resourceful while you find your way in the AEC industry. Zaida gives excellent information on being open-minded, demanding change, and supporting others.  Our discussion leads us to talk about toxic workplaces, how to recognize you’re in one, how to change it, or when it is finally time to walk away. Zaida also recommends finding support and mentors within the industry and your community. We also discuss demystifying having children and being a working professional, setting boundaries, and developing a support network.
