    Ian and Sujewa embrace the time change with a look at Blake Calhoun's love letter to early-80s cassette culture, Casey Makes a Mixtape! Presley Richardson stars as Casey, a 13-year-old girl navigating her parents' messy divorce while staying with her grandparents for the summer in East Texas. Her sole fixation is creating the perfect mixtape, which is one painfully elusive song away from completion. When she's not fourth-wall monologuing about the sanctity of headphones and strategies for recording songs off the radio, Casey bobs and weaves through a series of misadventures with new friends in the neighborhood. In this spoilerific review, the IndieSeen team looks at this visually impressive time capsule whose pinballing narrative makes for quite the bumpy flashback.     Ep1172: Scream 7 (2026) - Trailer Reaction

    Believe it or not, Kicking the Seat has never done a trailer reaction video! That changes today, as Ian reviews the newly released Scream 7 preview! Original series writer Kevin Williamson steps into the director's chair for one last (?) showdown between Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) and the latest incarnation of the Ghostface killer! Can Williamson reinvigorate a franchise that has more soft reboots than a computer made out of pillows? Or will this prove to be another in a long line of increasingly comical, "How many are there?" slasher movie memes? Time will tell, but in the meantime you can join Ian as he straddles the line of fair-use, taste, and credulity! Scream 7 will premiere only in theatres on February 27, 2026, courtesy of Paramount Pictures. OG YouTube film critic Chris Stuckmann makes his feature debut with a horror movie about a woman's desperate search for her long-lost sister. The quest becomes an obsession upon realizing that the imaginary demon from their childhood may have been real. After terrorizing exotic dancers and prostitutes, he settles down with Gladys (Marina Malfatti), whose wedded bliss is undone by apparitions and mysterious deaths around Alan's palatial estate. Has the late Evelyn returned from beyond to haunt her husband? Or is there something more sinister at play? In this spoilerific appreciation of a truly unique gialli, the roundtable dives into Miraglia's twisted and twisty tale--appreciating the kills and killer performances, and hotly debating an ending that knocked Evelyn down several notches in Ian's estimation!     Scare-a-Thon is back...and sillier than ever! This very special Spooky Season episode was supposed to be a livestream, but a last-minute technical issue led to Ian and AC scuttling the show last minute. But you can't keep a great podcast down, and the guys are determined to look back at two films celebrating anniversaries this year: Keenean Ivory Wayans' 2000 blockbuster horror-movie satire, Scary Movie, and Monster A Go-Go from 1965, co-directed by Bill Rebane and Herschell Gordon Lewis! One film was a renaissance of old-school parody movies like Airplane!. The other has been labeled one of the worst films ever made. What do they have in common? Lots of squirming and covered eyes--just like an actual genre film!     Ep1167: Spooky Action Up Close: An Interview with Crispin Hellion Glover

    You may know Crispin Hellion Glover as an eccentric character actor from classics films like Back to the Future, River’s Edge, and, of course, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter. But he's also a committed independent filmmaker. Earlier this month, he attended the press screening for his latest movie, No! You’re Wrong. Or: Spooky Action at a Distance at Chicago's Music Box Theatre--where he also performed a half-hour historical slideshow about the art and science of rat-catching for a handful of assembled press. After the show, Ian sat down with the writer/director/star for a wide-ranging interview about his refusal to make his films available digitally; his relationship with David Lynch; the history of Surrealism; artificial intelligence in the Arts, and much more. As for the movie at hand, it would require several hours and a couple of re-watches to accurately describe (and probably not even then). The best Ian can muster is, "It's like There Will Be Blood meets Cloud Atlas, set in the Land of Make-Believe". Chicagoans!     Featured Extras returns with a look at Warner Bros' recently released 4K UHD of F1: THE MOVIE! Joseph Kosinski's blockbuster racing film was a much bigger hit overseas than domestically, but one of the year's best movies is now on home video--bringing with it a handful of fascinating special features. Ian has assembled a crack pit crew to talk about the various making-of segments, centering on the exciting practical-effects innovations that helped bring the film to life! Note: There was an issue with Ian's microphone while recording the segment, so there's a "talking into the room" quality to his audio.
