Episode 64: Bruce McLaughlin, He Said, She S.A.I.D: From Conviction To Exoneration

Health Interrupted Podcast

It was in 1996 that the police burst into Bruce's home while he was sleeping and arrested and handcuffed him—all while his 10-year-old son was watching wide-eyed in terror.

Now, 25 years later, there are so many emotions tied to this fateful day. He still remembers the surprise, the fear, the anxiety, and the rage at being hauled off to jail for a crime he did not commit. He's thankfully now at peace with the tragedy of being falsely accused, arrested, and incarcerated. He is  saddened by the lasting impact this turn of events has had on his four children. And he is still amazed that he was able to exonerate himself—after 4 long years. But, mostly, he is grateful for the opportunity now as a man, as a father, and as an attorney to help others understand the peril and to avoid the trap of false accusations made during divorce proceedings. That is the reason he chose to share my story. Hope for a better future for parents and their children.
