Why My Morning Jacket? | Introducing Everyday Jacket

Welcome to the very first episode of Everyday Jacket, an independent My Morning Jacket fan podcast! In “Why My Morning Jacket?”, hosts Ryan Smith and Michael Needham share their very different journeys into the world of MMJ—one a fan for more than 20 years, the other a recent convert who quickly discovered what makes this band so special. From discovering Z during a pivotal moment in life to unforgettable nights at Red Rocks, One Big Holiday, and shows across the country, we talk about the music, the adventures, the friendships, and the unexpected moments that keep bringing us back. Along the way, there are eye patches, whitewater rafting, a case of mistaken rock-star identity, and plenty of reflections on why seeing My Morning Jacket live is an experience unlike any other. Most importantly, we introduce what Everyday Jacket is really about: getting to know the fans and hearing the stories that connect us. Now we want to hear from you. How did you discover My Morning Jacket? What was the show, song, or experience that made everything click? We'd love to hear your story—and maybe even share it on a future episode. Whether you've been following MMJ for decades or are just discovering the band, we'd love for you to join us.
