    Ep. 35 - Making Christianity Manly Again

    Auguste bros out with pastor J. Chase Davis and the two have a high-octane, testosterone-filled flex-fest about his recent book Offensive Christianity: Restoring the Strength of Men in a Feminized Age. As Davis argues in his book, Jesus is speaking just as much to men as He is speaking to everyone else, so there’s little need to downplay the inherent masculinity of the Gospel. Playing the she-devil’s advocate, Auguste brings up the many challenges facing men today, including militant feminists who are idolizing the crazed murderess Lindsay Clancy as well as out-of-touch Boomers who were apparently one-shotted by modern feminism. Despite facing an uphill battle, both take heart that masculine men are finally coming back. While the two mainly discuss the larger trends, they also give advice on how talk to opposite sex and have a healthy love life.     With the recent news of an Arab migrant horde storming the Spanish island of Ceuta, Auguste called on Copernican once again for an emergency podcast episode discussing this news alongside The Camp of the Saints. They discuss whether this really is the beginning of the end for Europe and whether Europeans will be be roused from their inaction. For the time being, the future looks dark. The two consider if the book has any possible solutions and if there is any hope for the Old World.     Ep. 33 - The New Right Ascendant (w/ Copernican)

    Are we seeing a changing of the guard in the conservative movement? Is the Old Right finally giving way to the New Right? What is the New Right anyway? Auguste brings in one of the New Right’s more articulate voices Copernican to explain what is happening in America right now. The two then apply the New Right lens to the recent Shiloh Hendrix trial and what it means for the country (hint: it’s more than just free speech). Finally, Copernican pulls out his crystal ball and gives his predictions for the midterms and beyond.     Ep. 32 - Marital SexyBack (w/ Georgi Boorman)

    With a birth dearth afflicting the developed world, a moribund dating culture making young adults miserable, and a growing marital malaise killing the bedroom, Auguste welcomes writer Georgi Boorman to give her take on the challenges facing couples today. The two go back and forth and end up producing a crunchy alternative (“touch some grass!”) to today’s desolate romantic landscape. While Georgi recommends that women eat right and get to work on finding their soulmate earlier, Auguste urges both young men and women dispense with “situationships” and “friend zones" and simply make their intentions clear. The two then discuss the problem of “dead bedrooms” and married couples losing their mojo. Georgi breaks down her own recent essay on this topic while Auguste chimes in with the male perspective. Despite discussing the various dimensions of sexual relationships, the conversation never becomes graphic or inappropriate.     Ep. 31 - Should America Stop Playing Empire? (w/ Josiah Lippincott)

    With Trump and the rest of America moving away from Iran, Auguste invited writer and podcaster Josiah Lippincott to discuss the conflict in this region and the goals of American foreign policy altogether. Auguste gives the case that America’s a force for good in the world, that Trump had good reasons for intervening, and that the Iran War was not a loss in any meaningful sense. Josiah, a former marine and now a professor of American history, begs to differ, explaining how intervention nearly always backfires and how domestic issues should take priority over American military action. The two go back and forth through history and circumnavigate the globe a few dozen times before the conversation pivots to the upcoming midterms and the rise of socialism in the Democrat Party. This seems like the opportunity for the GOP to make significant gains, but everyone except Trump and Vance seems to be lame and useless.     Ep. 30 How Can We Save the Liberal Arts? (w/ Librarian of Celaeno)

    What is to become of the humanities? How does it fit with a progressive liberal culture, if at all? What is classical learning? Where do the Great Books come in? Teacher and essayist Librarian of Celaeno joins Auguste to explore these age-old questions as well as consider the impact of AI on education. While Auguste hopes to emphasize some of the more practical aspects of the humanities, the Librarian thinks these disciplines should be tied to a students’ heritage and place. Both agree that studying the humanities is worthwhile, and they also agree that leftist indoctrination has rendered the younger generations of leftist graduates too stupid to become teachers themselves.     Ep. 29 - What Radicalized You?

    The cousins meet in person to discuss the news of the day and discuss where conservatives and America are at this point. Beginning with the question of what radicalized them (abortion, moochers, and Covid), Evan and Auguste then get into the news with the Karmelo Anthony trial and consider its wider implications on race relations. Will a conviction spur a new round of “mostly peaceful protests” or will it finally help Americans turn the page on outdated narratives about systemic racism? Somehow, Auguste and Evan conclude their talk by discussing two new indie horror movies, Obsession and Backrooms, and what their success portends for American culture in the near future. Through it all, they end up weaving like Trump, taking many strains of thought and synthesizing a beautiful tapestry of prognostications. Auguste brings on Catholic writer and consultant Peter Giersch to discuss his new book Talking of Michelangelo: Death, Judgment, Heaven, and Hell in the Burgundy Region in which he recounts a trip to France that spiritually transforms him. As they talk, the two make plans to leave their families to enjoy the beauty and history of Paris along with the different ways to grow in the faith and how popes are like the weather.
