I think I stumbled on this podcast a couple years ago after seeing first listening to Little Gold Men.
David Ehrlich has quickly become my favorite film critic (maybe that’s bad, maybe not). I caught Synonyms at the Mill Valley Film Festival a few days ago mainly because of him. It was incredible. About 7-8 people walked out. They are morons. I also saw Portrait of a Lady on Fire at that festival and think it’s a masterpiece. The best movie I’ve seen so far this year. Thanks for your praise of it, David. I love all the others on the podcast. Patches, Katey, and Da7e are all wonderful in other ways.

The thing about this podcast is...

Somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me
I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed
She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb
In the shape of an "L" on her forehead
Well the years start coming and they don't stop coming
Fed to the rules and I hit the ground running
Didn't make sense not to live for fun
Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb
So much to do, so much to see
So what's wrong with taking the back streets?
You'll never know if you don't go
You'll never shine if you don't glow
Hey now, you're an all-star, get your game on, go play
Hey now, you're a rock star, get the show on, get paid
And all that glitters is gold
Only shooting stars break the mold
It's a cool place and they say it gets colder
You're bundled up now, wait till you get older
But the meteor men beg to differ
Judging by the hole in the satellite picture
The ice we skate is getting pretty thin
The water's getting warm so you might as well swim
My world's on fire, how about yours?
That's the way I like it and I never get bored
Hey now, you're an all-star, get your game on, go play
Hey now, you're a rock star, get the show on, get paid
All that glitters is gold
Only shooting stars break the mold
Hey now, you're an all-star, get your game on, go play
Hey now, you're a rock star, get the show, on get paid
And all that glitters is gold
Only shooting stars
Somebody once asked could I spare some change for gas?
I need to get myself away from this place
I said yep what a concept
I could use a little fuel myself
And we could all use a little change
Well, the years start coming and they don't stop coming
Fed to the rules and I hit the ground running
Didn't make sense not to live for fun
Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb
So much to do, so much to see
So what's wrong with taking the back streets?
You'll never know if you don't go (go!)
You'll never shine if you don't glow
Hey now, you're an all-star, get your game on, go play
Hey now, you're a rock star, get the show on, get paid
And all that glitters is gold
Only shooting stars break the mold
And all that glitters is gold
Only shooting stars break the mold

Catching up in the War Room.

*FTIWR honking noise* I’ve finally caught up! After starting the podcast this past June, I’ve gone through the back catalogue of episodes while at work and have become a big fan of all the hosts and their contributions to the show. Starting with Patches, I liked his Jacob Tremblay impression of “Goodbye wardrobe” around the release of Room irregardless of how much I loved that film, the time he got scared by a gathering with American flags, and in general when he has an exasperated laugh that often is joined with a “what?”. As for Da7e, I’ve always appreciated the way he deep dives head first into content to better grasp the full extent of the topic, and also his consistently good and sometimes inspired song transitions. Love when the Spongebob trap remix pops up! Moving to along to Katey, I like how she calls out the other hosts when they begin to talk over each other. This is her war room and she will keep the fighting civil. I also find it humorous how often she goes “mhmmm” as if she is eating something she really likes. Lastly, I always appreciate how David sticks to his convictions when it comes to opinions on media, especially when to my amusement he decides to bail on television shows.

I’d also like to leave you with some questions. Since it was never covered on the podcast, what are your thoughts on The Leftovers, even just a quick yay or nay? Finally, after hearing mention that Katey and David occasionally run, if you listen to music while running, what are some of your favorite workout songs? As long as you keep up the fighting, I’ll keep on listening.
