    Episode 215 - Knowledge Makes You Powerless... Here is Why!

    Knowledge Makes You Powerless! Hear me out before you think I am crazy! I get why you think knowledge is power! This is the paradigm we all grew up with! In fact, I spent 21 years of my life just studying to know all I could know about a given topic, and further 18 years in an environment where I could apply that knowledge. But all that knowledge didn’t give me any power! In fact, it made me powerless, because after a while I made having a certain amount of knowledge a measure of how good I was! Which, inevitably, I thought, meant that if I didn’t have enough knowledge, I was not good enough! Not realising for years… that my value didn’t actually come from my knowledge (or lack of it) but it came from how courageous I was to apply and embody what I already knew! If you resonate with any of the above, then read on (and share this article with someone who would benefit from reading it) Here are the 3 beliefs that is causing you to become powerless Knowledge = Power—WRONG! You can have all the knowledge in the world about a specific topic or many topics, but if you don’t know your own value first, you will keep sitting on the side lines without sharing what you know with anyone! You won’t have the courage to apply, embody or share It with the world! Knowledge that is not shared and just rotting in your head and is worth NOTHING! Knowledge = Your Value—WRONG! Because you determine your own value by how much you know, this becomes your reference point to compare yourself to others (most likely) who know more than you. So instead of celebrating and sharing what you know and standing in your own value, you constantly compare yourself to others and create a reason to de-value yourself. This becomes your daily (negative) self-talk that you are now immune to, and you don’t even realise how toxic it actually is (Try talking to your best friend the way you talk to yourself for half a day and see how long your friendship lasts). More Knowledge/Achievements = More Respect/Approval/Appreciation from others-WRONG! This belief leads you to learn more, chase more titles, achievements… and before you know it, you are overwhelmed with all the learning you ‘have to’ do and constantly chasing your tail to keep up with the expectations you put on yourself. All in the name of getting the respect, approval and appreciation externally. You give your power away to those who don’t appreciate you by getting angry, frustrated and end up working harder which keeps you in this broken cycle forever! You probably already know where this leads to = burnout! STOP it! Like I said many times before, until you realise your own value because of who you are; courageously embody it and share your knowledge with the world as you are… No amount of learning, knowledge, job title or external validation will give you the value, peace and fulfilment you are seeking.     Episode 214 - Two Reasons Why You Keep Failing to Be Happy

    You can be comfortable, and still be unhappy! This is not another article I will be banging on about the comfort zone, because you probably heard enough of that! This is about contentment, aka, good old happiness! So, you might be comfortable in your job, in your home, in the external environment you are in and can still be unhappy! You see, happiness is an inner state! It doesn’t depend on external circumstances, even though most people believe, act and make it about that! In fact, no external circumstance will result in happiness, until you decide to become happy on the inside first! How many times did you say to yourself any of these or something similar…? I will be happy when… I finish my presentation The kids grow up All of this [lockdown, a launch, a significant event…} is over I book my holiday I have kids… The list goes on. Listen, happiness is not a destination (as cheesy as this sounds, it is true) but most of us treat it that way and this is why you one day, expect to arrive there… This causes you to fail at being happy in 2 ways You constantly wait for a condition to be fulfilled before you can BE happy When you arrive at the condition and find yourself still NOT HAPPY, you get disappointed and become even more unhappy! You can see now what a broken way of thinking this is, can you not? It is not your fault though; this is what you have been conditioned to do from as early as age 3 (remember the when…then technique all the parenting gurus are teaching you?)! You have been taught to have live conditionally- when I have this...then I can have that! And whilst it might ‘work’ for your 3-year-old (for a short while), it is not a sustainable strategy for a happy life! Because you will not be happy on the outside until you DECIDE to be happy on the inside. NO matter how comfortable, successful, rich, famous [insert desire] you might be! The good news is that when you are happy on the inside FIRST, all the other external conditions you have been hoping, wishing, and expecting to happen WILL actually happen much more easily. Sometimes though, being comfortable but not content can be a good thing!     Episode 213 - The Six Stages of Life where are you at right now?

    I grew up thinking and believing that life consisted of 6 stages. 1. You go to school 2. You go to university. 3. You get a job. 4. You get married. 5. You have children. 6. You pass. At stage 4, your life is no longer about you as you would 'become responsible' for how your 'other half' feels, what he/she does or doesn't do. At stage 5 your life would practically be over and is now dedicated to the 'other people' in your life. You no longer matter! The only purpose you serve is to EXIST for your kids, your job, your husband, and occasionally for yourself by having a haircut or drinking to numb the pain of no longer 'having a life'. Is this the life you were dreaming of? Of course not!  This episode is all about how you are conditioned to live your life this way, but also what you can do to break away from this way of thinking and being.     Episode 210- Mind the fulfilment gap that is getting bigger with every action you take!

    In this episode, I talk about the 'gap' that is created in your mind and causes you to drive yourself to burnout time and time again! I felt the 'gap' for 10 years😣😭...You might be feeling it too...🛴 The gap that appeared since your little ones started school.😔 The gap that eats you up inside when you see a job role that requires 40-hour weeks + travel,knowing that you can either realistically do a third of that or leave your heart at home when you do, and neither feels good!💔📑The gap that you try and fill in with a mile-long to-do list that never ends... and ends up making you feel exhausted.😩🍷🍷🍷 The gap you desperately cover up by ‘relaxing’ in front of the TV with a glass (or 2) each night,😖 because the thought of doing the things that rip your heart apart the next day is too much to bear…😞 The gap that gets bigger and deeper every time you miss a school play just to finish that presentation your boss asked you.😠 The gap that causes you to get angrier at yourself because you’ve not had the chance to sit and BE with your kids,😣 because you are too busy doing all the things you think they need forgetting the most important thing they really want – your undivided attention for just 5 minutes a day!🥺😖 The gap that leaves you frustrated because you haven’t had a chance to BE with yourself in peace and quiet, even for 10 minutes a day😞 because you are too busy thinking about what is next and resenting it at the same time!🛑 This has got to stop…🛑I get it.and I know you cannot go on like this for much longerThe good news is...You don’t have to 'fill the gap' with anything else…and it is easier to close it than you might think!

    Episode 208 - The power of gratitude for what you don't have!

    Gratitude is the attitude, right? Have you considered what level of gratitude you are at today? You might be thinking, What do you mean. How many levels are there? 🤔 There are in fact 5 levels of gratitude! No gratitude- complaining and being a victim!😟 Being grateful for the things you have in your life 🤗 Being grateful for the things you do not yet have in your life!- (What? How can I be grateful for the things I don't yet have?)😮 Being grateful for the bad things that are happening in your life 😅 Realising and being grateful that there are no good or bad things. There are just things happening in our life and they are happening FOR you not TO you.😐🙏❤ 😟 If you are like most people, then the chances are you are probably already realising you operate in level 1 most of your life! It is easily done! 🤨 If you have some awareness and in your personal development journey you may be operating on level 2 some of the time but not always because it is so easy to stay in level 1 due to external circumstances. 😍 I can tell you that I stopped operating at level 1 a long time ago. it was a decision I made and changed everything for me. 🥰 At level 2, things are wonderful and it really grounds you. 🤩❤ Level 3 will take you to the levels you never thought possible.💥 It may be incomprehensible to be grateful for the things you do not yet have, but I am telling you it is a game-changer. I have been practising level 3 of gratitude for the past 5 years, inconsistently. Starting today, I am committing to practice it daily. I would like to invite you to do the same.
