The one where we played Chicago and maybe Pineda has gotta go?

    On this episode....
🖐️Takes🫵Your takes and low-keys🤷‍♂️Should he stay or should he go🦅Falcons prioritizing mediocrity 🗓️What do we need to see in May?

1: To the left to the left, everything we had was going down the left. Points for trying, but nothing really threatening came of it. Grant it we are missing Xande but even with him in the XI we haven’t been able to create any attacking threats and that continues to be the case.
2: *In the voice of Paula Cole* Where is our set piece threat? Why can’t we score a goal? Where have all our free kicks gone? Seriously, we use to be somewhat productive from free kicks and corners and now we get very little from either.
3: We still look incredibly shaky on dead ball situations and resets in play. Literally with any stoppage in play we just don’t look ready when play resumes and the scouting report is out on that aspect of this team because we’re seeing more and more teams take free kicks and throw ins quickly.
4: We looked really good in the last 20 minutes. If we could just figure out the other 70 we might really have something. It continues to be a total mystery as to why we cannot play with urgency and attacking dynamism over the course of an entire 90 minutes. Clearly we can do it in moments. We just should be able to replicate that over an entire match.
5: We can’t count on our counter press. We don’t look in sync at all when we try to win the ball back. The players just look confused as to what the trigger for the press is. Credit to Slisz and also Dax, who we need to see more of FWIW, for individual efforts but it has to be more about the collective than one or two players.

The one where Taylor dropped Tortured poets & Atlanta continues to blow it.

On this episode...🖐️Takes🔑 Low-key MOM🫵 Your takes🤔 Coaching vs player performance 🤕Exploiting the new rules
Thank you as always to MasonMillChiro.com1: In recognition of 4/20 day Cincy played really high and we were not ready for it. At times it felt like we were playing NYRB and we all know how that goes. Usually we can raise our level to make our opponent uncomfortable. Today we couldn’t raise ours to meet theirs.
2: The energy that Saba brings to EVERY play is DEEPLY appreciated but if he could just dial it back a touch on his final pass, I think with a little more finesse and a little less power he’d have even more end product.
3: Once again we took far too long to get going. Today it took us an entire half. Teams are figuring out that we don’t seem to be switched on at the start.  It’s a simple thing & it’s killing us.
4: In the high five we talked about how there could be some communication errors to exploit on Cincy’s back line, there weren’t. They looked like how we have looked up until now. They deserve a lot of credit.
5: We talked last week about how we can’t let conceding soft goals become the story this season. Tonight we wrote another chapter. We have to flip this script IMMEDIATELY.

On this episode Jack Purdy joins us and we discuss...
🖐️Takes                                                                                         🥅All our 9’s have scored🤕Injuries across ATL🤢 Philly ball ➰ VAR loophole                                                                            😉Thank you Amy Marie for the title
1: The first half felt like we were pointing a gun at Philly, but both teams knew it was  unloaded. As expected we lacked a finishing threat and we played like it in the final third. In the second we loaded it and found some different weapons.
2: All around, despite the result, we still looked solid defensively considering the absences. We’re still blocking shots & most importantly communicating and staying organized as a result. Depth players could’ve REALLY done with a win here though.
3: It was all yellow for Philly in the first half. Good. Happy to see refs dishing out the cards when teams play Curtain ball as it were. Martinez still should’ve been out on a 2nd for kicking the ball away. Yellow is yellow.
4: We have been missing the dynamic and creative Thiago we have grown accustomed to. He showed up in the 2nd half. He stopped drifting out wide & got involved centrally in space. We have depth now so we’re not asking him to put the team on his back but he needs to keep playing like he did today in the 2nd half.
5: Those were two of the most Philly goals we will ever see. Both were against the run of play, both were…dubious in nature. On the first, the ball appeared to go out of play in the build up and the second was off a foul throw. They got under our skin, as they do, and got the brief momentum they needed to flip the game.

The one where we can score with Jamal and Brad can do it all

The one where we can score with Jamal and Brad can do it all

On this episode we discuss🖐️Takes🔑low-key MOM👟Jason Longshore's double duty😏Natural disasters, other than Chelsea
1: Considering how well we’ve been performing defensively, it’s really frustrating to give up a goal in that manner. The penalty is soft but the opportunity comes from our own error.
2: Both teams created as many opportunities for the other as they did for themselves. NYC got a little fortunate with their goal. We provided everything but the finish for the majority of the match.
3: We were missing GG’s frame to help get it on frame. On top of being a great goal scorer, his strength and hold up play has also been key. He’s also our best aerial threat we’ve maybe ever had and we missed that.
4: He’s big, he’s bald he can f-ing do it all. It’s been a little while since we’ve had Brad be so key both defensively and offensively. He’s done all that’s been asked of him and then some.
5: Were Rios’ and Firmino's legs broken? Didn’t agree with Etienne at the 9. He did have his opportunity to win not only the game but possibly more minutes, but for some reason he heads it away from goal instead of directly into net. He continues to be what he’s been.

Love it!!! Great start!

I love Atlanta United and this podcast is a great finish to each match. I enjoy listening Glenn and Cristen’s input about our players and the game. Slight sound issues but I’m sure they’re getting worked on and will be fixed soon.

Atlanta United’s best or better pods

Glenn and two folks that don’t get named in the show notes discuss EPL teams Chelsea & Spurs for 10-15 minutes to warm up. Then they move on to discussing Atlanta United’s recent matches.
Pros: they tell you in the show notes how they see the show. They are reasonable and informed. They are also connected to the supporters groups, Footie Mob, and know the real ins and outs of game day experiences. They are not foolish reactionaries but the obviously are within a drink’s reach from friends with reactionary tendencies. The pod comes out in a timely manner. The sound is fine for 3 friends talking soccer and occasionally yelling about Araujo’s lack of production.
Cons: they INSIST on calling a Greek striker “Gi Gi,” when he himself has told the media he is called Yako or Tank. In the most recent episode, they assert hypotheticals as “their points.” They are supported by a chiropractor clinic.
