  1. Government Food Fight

    Government Food Fight

At the top of the year, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins released the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2025–2030, the most significant reset of federal nutrition policy in decades. Emphasizing "real food," the food pyramid we grew up with has essentially been turned upside down. Dante DiMatteo (PharmD) breaks down the changes: What's good, what's bad and what families should take away from this messy government food fight. We love questions! The VO2 Max Trap

VO2 Max is having a moment. It seems every fitness influencer and longevity specialist has decided to focus on it as the key metric for determining your health. Is it important? Yes. But making that the key indicator of fitness is a trap.  Then, Dante fields a listener question: What do you do when red wine turns your face, well...bright red. How can you enjoy a glass while avoiding that awful face flush and the terrible feeling that comes along with it? We love questions! Eat Clean, Reduce ADHD

A 2012 study (INCA) that only just came across our desk has huge implications for folks with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), particularly kids! Joey DiMatteo (PharmD, CCN) examines how an elimination diet improves ADHD in children. How much can food choice really affect behavior and can restricting certain foods help manage ADHD symptoms? The study was on children, but the implications are universal! When a listener (and Josiah) ask Dante about wearing a weighted vest, it's the perfect tie-in for looking at a study about weighted vests and long-term weight loss. 6. FDA Flips: Menopause & HRT

    11/17/2025

    FDA Flips: Menopause & HRT

At last, the FDA has decided to remove the black box warning from topical hormone replacement therapies (HRTs) for menopause after years of pushback from women, and a comprehensive scientific review. We look at the original research that lead to the warnings and present evidence for their removal. Women were suffering unnecessarily because good research was mis-applied, and it took two decades for the government to catch on. Next, we look at a study showing that nearly half of type 2 diabetes patients exhibit micronutrient deficiencies, with vitamin D being the most prevalent, followed by magnesium and vitamin B12. We discuss how to assess your individual needs and how to supplement effectively. Finally, heading into Thanksgiving, Josiah helps us refocus and reframe the personality clashes and stress that always come around whenever family gets together. If you've got a question, we'd love to hear it! Just drop it in the comments or send us an email (questions@askjoedimatteo.com)!
